CanuckSARTech Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 LOL. I'm still waiting for Frank to give me a swap for his jar. Since it was my idea to get started on those anyways. LOL. Remind me before our next Cuba trip - I'll bring some down. Silence has it's own value! 1
shlomo Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 What about cigar "stuff" lighters, cutters, ashtrays, humidors, etc...?
CanuckSARTech Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 What about cigar "stuff" lighters, cutters, ashtrays, humidors, etc...? Saw that coming. LOL. No, I myself don't. Same as cigars for me, however I don't mainly as a principle with cigars, as I'm actually consuming them (ie - they're bought primarily for me, and potentially for my children, down the line). Cutters, ashtrays, licence plates, etc. - no, I already have what I want / need for those, any additional are extras.

Habana Mike Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I'm thinking a trip down with a trunk would more than cover the cost, even with the excess baggage fees. With $300 in other than cigars/Rum now, that's 10 ashtrays! If I could convince CBP they only cost $10 each, it'd be 30 of those heavy buggers
Hoepssa Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I smoked cigars since was sophomore, more than 10 years, starting to buy "enough" items from 2014, after finding recent cigars needs more time to reach its peak. a stick of good cigar, rare to your region and does tasting well, can be a good "weapon" for making friends. I just spent 6100 USD in Beirut airport LCDH, oh man that's cigar lovers' heaven.

Sounds like you picked up some great smokes, what'd you get?
CigarDarr111 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I was recently at a local shop in Vancouver inquiring about 1966's.. the owners brother told me they had 100 boxes in their warehouse that a client in Hong Kong bought. all 100 boxes were purchased, the client payed 1300 Canadian.. this was in the fall...

I find that very hard to believe...but there is that possibility that somebody paid 2x what some European LCDHs have them at. Some people just like overpaying instead of shopping I suppose.
stunod Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 It funny but I have some "valuable" cigars. Limited editions, ect. I have never thought of selling them. Trade, oh yea, to get something I really want. I have 2 boxes of Monte Sublimes, my all time favorite. If someone offered say $1000 for box, I would not sell . To me what am I going to do with the $. But 2 boxes of Cohiba Suprmos. Don't lke them as much. Put the $ in the bank... I think not. If on the other hand someone said "hay I'll trade you a Cohiba Sumblime for a Cohiba 1966, which idiot me never bought, I would do it. If you are going to buy cigars as an investment, you better have a big bankroll and a lot of time.
shlomo Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I have some Monte Sublimes...anybody want to give me 1K a pop...they are yours! 1

Lotusguy Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Give it a few months, they'll get there...... I really don't think so. There will be a lot of sellers come $500. LGC jar has topped out at $1500 as well. There is a limit. 1

sengjc Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Probably not something you would want to bank on and rely on an an investment per-se.
