I was enjoying a busy Saturday with errands (vacuuming and maintaining the pool) so I decided to treat myself to a nice Romeo y Julieta Churchill cigar in the mid-afternoon. Now, I know how many of you feel about politics and it's not my intention to bore you, however, I was down to the last third of this stogie when I got a knock at the door. To my surprise, it was the local candidate for our upcoming state election. She was doing the rounds getting people's opinions about issues relevant to them. Normally, I would be polite and feign interest, but I was distracted because this one looks like this...

Haha...I was actually thinking during our conversation, "I wish Ken or Fuzz was here!". She's young and she has a 9% swing to make up against Mark Coure, the current Liberal member. It was a very pleasant conversation and she thanked me for allowing her to sit down outside my patio (She looked like she had spent the whole afternoon door-knocking). She's a nurse by profession so she was passionate about issues in regards to health (which Aussies know is a big issue) and my concerns mainly focused on public education. I wished her all the best.

Jealous of you John. My local MP is so cool he has angry old Greenies go door to door for him! Happened on me just as I was unloading 15 bags of firewood for up coming backyard fire pit Season!

Told em where they could go.post-12791-0-67712100-1426321714_thumb.j

Understandable Adam since both state and local government has really let your local area down over the years....especially your local council!

Sorry Mus, even her name was distracting....O'Bray Smith. Yeah, it's Irish and with a name and face like hers, she's bound to go far, or disappear without a trace. At least she seemed genuine.

I'd like a separation of laws regarding tobacco for cigar and pipe smokers, it's galling to be lumped in with tobacco companies as far as current anti-tobacco legislation in our country goes.

Did she express interest in your "Churchill", or was she just interested in talking about cigars?!

Oh brother - I'm being generous when I say that she was 1/16th attractive.

We had a semi-attractive female political candidate here in the US not too long ago. It did not go well for anyone.

Well at least we got a fairly entertaining porno out of it anyway. So I've heard...

I would not mind the interruption I would or ask her in and have discussion on what ever she would like to talk about and finish the last third. You never know!

When she first hit the scene I thought she was pretty decent looking, especially for a politician. Of course she's much less attractive once her character and intelligence were revealed. She's downright cringe worthy now.

Yup, I find her utterly unbearable.

This is a follow-up post to my meeting from a few weeks ago. Today I will have to go to my local school and vote for Ms Smith. It also serves as a reminder for all our Australian members from the state of New South Wales that they have to vote at the state elections today!
