El Presidente Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I am sure we all do it You read here and elsewhere of how a member "hates"....."can't stand" ..."has never had a good one" of this cigar or that. "I have never ever had a great D4 (substitute CORO or BRC or anything)" ....you say to yourself.....YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING! We all have different tastes and that is a good thing! However, what is that cigar that you consistently love that receives a bad rap and makes you say to yourself....You have to be kidding!
Guybrush Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Montecristo No.2. What a great and from my experience consistent cigar. Best to be smoked young.
soutso Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 In all honesty, I rarely have a poor Monte 4. Some are better than others, but I have only had a handful of disappointing ones and I've had loads of them! 1
DWC Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 How about the other way around. Everyone seems to rave about PL Montecarlos. (You have to be kidding!) I don't like them at all. I don't know what others see in them. But I love PLPC, Encantos and PL Panetelas. Go figure... I have nothing to offer about what I like but others hate. Maybe QDO corona and MC #3 I guess. They don't seem to get too much love. -Dan 3
riazp Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 i've never had a bad PSD4. then again all my psd4s come from Rob...so i guess hes my good luck charm on my favorite cigar 3
tmac77 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Monte #4. It still amazes me that so many knock this cigar down when I have had nothing but stellar examples from many boxes over the years. True I do get mine hand picked by either our gracious host on here or in Cuba so that may sway the odds in my favour of getting the cream of the crop. 1

Working on a 2012 box now and they are fantastic flavor bombs.
polarbear Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Trinidad Reyes Don't hear many good reports about the marca as a whole but 90% of the ones I've smoked over the years have been quite good This is out of a sample size of about 24 different sticks. Different dates, different codes 3
Laxman Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Love PSD4's and JL 2's. Seem to always find people that do not like either or claim to have never had a good one. I boxes of both from at least 07 to present and for the most of part have enjoyed them all
Foz Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Trini Reyes as well. Never heard a good word. But am thoroughly them as a Sunday morning/afternoon cigar with a tea.
JohnS Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Punch cigars in general. I've never had a bad one, okay... I concede there are other more flavoursome cigars around, but I don't mind a Coronation for a quick smoke now and then.
Smallclub Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Trini Reyes as well. Never heard a good word. Really? Until recent years the Reyes (and Trinidad in a whole) was the most prized très petit corona on every cigar board… 1
Brah Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I though my ADD was bad. I have never had a great Cuaba. Yup, that includes the entire line.
tmac77 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I though my ADD was bad. I have never had a great Cuaba. Yup, that includes the entire line. I have had some really nice Cuaba's. The devinos and exclusivos more specifically. A very woodsy change of pace cigar that needs quite a bit of time. Takes a bit of getting used to but once you do quite nice IMO. 1
Blakes Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Cuaba Divinos ...and Salomones for that matter, Not smoked many of the other Cuaba's but very rarely do I get a 'bad one' of these two.
cybermadhatter Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 SLR A and Regios do not get enough love. The brand itself is now devoid of the pc, corona, lonsdale, and Churchill. I always like all of them. One cigar I do not care for is the BBF. Smoked many old, recent, and kind-of- old ones, and they never do anything for me. Tastes like paper. But I do like bolivar as a marque. 1
Foz Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Really? Until recent years the Reyes (and Trinidad in a whole) was the most prized très petit corona on every cigar board… Really. I've only been smoking cigars over the last few years and have only ever really been on this forum (as well as one other highly inactive forum). Since I started with cigars, I generally haven't heard much good about the Reyes.
canadianbeaver Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 RA Extra. We love these. Please forward unwanted boxes to Canadianbeaver. She will dispose of them properly for you! 3
mgravito Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 +1 for RA Extra. I absolutely love these things and they get trashed pretty badly.
