RAE.

I disagree on the Reyes - I don't see much bashing of those.

RA Extra for me as well, can't say anything bad about them.

Another cigar that gets bashed all the time and which I actually like is the Monte Open Regata. lookaround.gif

RA Extra. We love these. Please forward unwanted boxes to Canadianbeaver. She will dispose of them properly for you!

+1... Lots of people slate the RA Extra yet I've enjoyed all the ones I've had.

I find myself on the other side of the fence. Everyone raves about RASS and JL2, however, I have never had a good one of either. I would love to but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe someday...

Im going to stick my neck on the line and say... Gurkha - specifically the Cellar Reserve Koi Perfecto Number 2. There is a lot of hate on these boards for Gurkha, which you can kind of understand and there is a lot of marketing nonsense that goes with them. I haven't had any of their other cigars to compare to the CR's so cant defend the entire brand, but I quite enjoy these as a short, fat and fairly quick smoke.

Nothing wrong with that mate... it's all about smoking what you enjoy.

For me, not a lot of love out there for Cuaba, I've only had one in my life but the Divinos that I had was great! I throroughly enjoyed it and the others around me all commented on how good the smoke smelled in the room. If a good box came up I'd certainly buy one.

EL's is bashed all the times. Most of them are great cigars. Would be great if they were cheaper and maybe slimmer, but lots of great cigars there

The main sticks that come to mind that I've had very few bad ones of but others seem to dislike them. RA Extra and R&J Wide Church. To this day, I have yet to have a regular production Punch stick that I've enjoyed....no.gif

Love the 08 Cuaba EL

The 2011 Hoyo EL also

Neither seem to get much good talk, possibly overshadowed by the Monte Sublime, 1966 and RAE on their respective releases

You have to be kidding - the Short Hoyo is excellent! How could it get slated?

Thought of another one.

We like a RyJ Cazadores. You rarely see any talk about this guy anymore.

The ones we split were AWESOME!!!

I know! It seems most forgot about them in the hype of the other years releases, and some really bad reviews didn't help.

I found them really balanced and full of sweet mellow cream.

Agree, haven't heard much about them lately....maybe a thing or two here and there but it does seem most forgot about them

Monte Double Edmundo & Petite No. 2

When I thought about these, I do agree. They get little praise. The last couple of each of them were flavor bombs of chocolate. Not too strong in body but just loads of flavor. Very enjoyable.

The one that doesn't seem to get much talk.. Juan Lopez Seleccion #1. I believe they are made in Way lesser numbers than the #2. Need age imo.

For me, it's more a matter of (in)consistency, rather than subjective tastes. I've never had a good PSD4 or RASS - and what I mean by that is, epecially in the case of the D4s, it's not that I didn't care for the flavor, it's that they were some of the most insipid cigars I've ever wasted my time on. The RASS were nothing to write home about either. I've never had a truly bad Montecristo No.2 or No.4 - again, taking subjective flavor out of the equation, they were flavorful.

So when I read of members expounding on how good or bad any cigar might be, I believe them - but I've come to learn, through personal experience, that it's rarely a case of some kind of baseline flavor.
