Coronas gordas luv me longtyme and is my overall favorite(was so sad to see the Punch range decimated). However, I have so much appreciation for the Cuban petite corona/ minuto/ perla! It's absolutely amazing how much character and flavor they are able to pack into those formats. I find I generally don't have much time/patience for much over 50rg and 6 or so inches...I'm working on that thoughyes.gif

I tend to like larger ring gauges as I don't have to consciously slow my smoking down as much. I tend to smoke faster and hotter if smoking alone. 54 is my preferred limit though unless it's a pyramid.

I had a 70 ring gauge once, felt like I was sucking on a clogged vacuum hose.

I used to smoke almost entirely 50-52 robustos and toros. About 7 or 8 years ago I had my first tatuaje noellas, and first illusione. I fell in love. Now I love shorter and smaller cigars. I've smoked more petite coronas than anything else recently. I guess the regulars would be party shorts, plpc, bpc, and rascc.

Most of the guys that like ring gauges at 60+ seem to be either casual cigar smokers or former cigarette smokers (in my experience, at the very least) that tend to puff incessantly. Bigger ring gauges seem to be better for them as smaller ring gauges tend to overheat a LOT if you draw every 10 seconds.

Personally, though, my sweet spot is somewhere between 36 to 50. The only times I'm willing to go above 50 is for some NC torpedoes or perfectos.

Minutos for me. Also love HUHC. Immense satisfaction. But also like a JL No 2 or dare I say it, Cohiba Robusto Supremos if given the opportunity.

I find that I just love cigars of all marcas and vitolas...I have different preferences on RG and length depending on time constraints and what I had to eat and what activity I'm engaged in while smoking. That being said, generally speaking the larger the RG the cooler the cigar will burn especially if you smoke faster. Now, that's not to say that if you smoke slow and steady a 38 RG won't smoke just fine, but again generally speaking. I'm not sure the larger RG is a just an American thing, but perhaps. I'm from the states and I do generally prefer 48-54 with my ideal RG being 50-52. I've noticed that CC's generally come in smaller or skinnier vitolas and therefore I have been delving into these waters lately. I am enjoying the smaller vitolas, but if I had my choice with no time constraints and I can just sit down and smoke for a couple hours then I would prefer a robusto, torpedo, belicoso, but definitely nothing larger than 6" and 54 RG. I will concede that it does appear that most NC's are in that robusto size range of 5" x 52 RG.

One thing that I haven't had the pleasure of trying yet is a lancero or panatela (?), so hopefully I can grab some fivers from someone in the future as this particular vitola has really peaked my curiosity.

Cheers,

Seth

Lonsdales and Coronas/Petite Coronas are the sweet spot for me. Anything over 50RG is tending towards having some concerns going into it, though I have been known to enjoy some. I'd probably say my cap is around 54RG.

I had box Asylum 4x44 just a great Quick smoke but I think 50 to 52 when you have the time and more wrapper is the go I'm still a newbie but they say a lot of the flavors and taste is in the binder and wrapper please correct me if I'm wrong to sum up a 52 is the go.

While I haven't partaken of a CC yet I do prefer smaller ring gauges. I usually don't smoke much over 50 or 52.

That's one of the things I learned about Cubans in my reading is that the ring gauges tend to be much smaller. That and the absence of maduros.
