nivanov Posted February 20, 2015 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Hah! Stumbled upon a neat piece of history!! The Fonseca marca and who is represented on the inner lithograph of the dress boxes? Did you know that his last name was actually Fonceka?? My deduction Mr. Holmes, is that the inner litho on the Fonseca cigar boxes is none other than........................................General Deodoro da Fonceka the first President of Brazil. And maybe I am wrong but the Brazilian marshal has his name written as Fonseca (no "c" and no "k"). At least as far as I know in that period of time (beggining of XIX century) Fonseca would not be written with "k" (nowadays neither). And the flag, is the US flag, right? No idea how it's survived as long as it has to be brutally frank, I've never had one that you could draw air though! nivanov Posted February 22, 2015 Author Share Posted February 22, 2015 At least now, we all know who the first President of Brazil was, nevertheless looking at the images of both Fonsecas it could be argued that they were somehow related (striking resemblance).
