MIKA27 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Watch John Oliver Give Australia A Big Pat On The Back For Its Plain Cigarette Packaging Laws Ever since Australia introduced its controversial plain packaging laws for cigarettes, it has been copping flak for it from big tobacco. Alleged research has found that the move is working in Australia, but the fight is far from over, as John Oliver points out in the grand return of Last Week Tonight. 1
Sver Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Haha John Oliver is a funny guy, i watch his segments every week. On a related note these tobacco companies are really soulless, nothing new there
shlomo Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Open sores on Satan's ****. Oliver is great! JEFF!!!
Maplepie Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I will be interested on how they collected research on "smoking rates". Would it be from people who said yes to smoking in a random poll? Would it be # of cigarettes purchased in Oz? IF it's the latter method, one can assure them that the smoking rate has probably not declined... Does anyone have more information on this? And yes. This is why cigars need to be taxed, discriminated, and treated differently than cigarettes.
FireDigger Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 That was good stuff. Thanks for sharing. And kudos to John Oliver for spending 18 minutes on one segment. You don't see that much these days when everything is truncated.
aushy Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 For those that haven't seen this series (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver), then get on it! It's amazing... both informative and hilarious.
