saw that and was wondering what fans of each team thought. i guess there is one answer.

as a skins fan, not upset he is out of our division.

that said, sproules and another bloke (i forget the name) were doing a lot of the work, he was a massive salary and if the young LB comes out fit, he could be seriously exciting for the eagles for a long time. ACL is a concern though - just ask RG3. strikes me it could be like portis/bailey - which was pretty much winners both sides.

Yeah. Chris Polk they seemed to like, at the goal line at least. And it's true if Alonso gets back to form that's a huge boost for the D. And if we use that $$ to sign a good CB (my god how many have we whiffed on in recent years??) that would spin this positive. But I just loved watching Shady when he was on. Rare talent.

of course they would not have been "screwed" as alleged, though personally i reckon the refs got that one right, if the refs had not dudded the lions most outrageously the week before with the pass in

Not getting screwed in the playoffs on the last "legitimate catch" of the game hopefully...

Latest rumor is they may bring in Larry Fitzgerald. Being a Minnesota kid, he would be a great influence on Teddy. With AP back and if they can get Fitzgerald, focus on D in the draft, the Vikings h

Aaaand we just traded Shady McCoy to the Bills for a LB coming off ACL surgery. WTF??!! pod.gif

In this day and age I wouldn't be too concerned about ACL surgery (see Rob Gronkowski). With a good surgeon and graft, the way these guys rehab, his knee should be pretty much as good as new.

True. Just need to recover from the shock first! Then I start to see the positives lol

Hey Folks,

HUGE 49ers fan here. What can the members from Oz and New Zealand tell me about Jarryd Hayne? He very recently signed a "Futures" contract with the 'Niners and, from what I gather, there is $100,000 in guaranteed money. That is somewhat unusual given the circumstances. Have seen some NRL clips and he looks like he could certainly contribute. Would be most interested in hearing the thoughts of those who are more familiar with him.

Why bother worrying about that guy when the 49ers just signed Darnell Dockett for a steal. 2 years 7.5 mil? Thats a steal for a player of Dockett's caliber. Hes getting a little old, sure, but hes still a beast.

I assume Jarryd will be playing Running Back. 100-1 chance of making it as he has never played a NFL game before. hugely talented athlete who is use to hits and little space. Great speed, read of defence, uncanny natural flair. If he makes the cuts to the final day it will possibly open up a nice seam of Rugby League players into the NFL. There are better than him.

Personally I can see him on special teams return rotating in as 3rd RB. 100-1 but he gave up 700K in his prime here to give it a shot. Kudos.

Colts have a guy named Daniel Adongo, who is Kenyan, and was a rugby union player before trying his hand at American football. Came straight from South African rugby union to the Colts as a linebacker. Kid is just a phenomenal athlete and had a great attitude and work ethic. He was a practice squad guy for the most part, got into a couple of games on special teams, then missed all of last season with an injury picked up in training camp.

20-30 years ago, it would have been much easier for someone to come over and learn the game. But today the schemes are so scripted and complex on both sides of the ball, that the learning curve is just so steep for these guys. I would imagine the rugby tactics have become more complex in that time, as well. So much more to both games than running and hitting these days. I'd guess Hayne's goal would be to make the team as a special teams guy (looks like they may try him as a kick returner), and then work his way up the depth chart at another position.

similar thoughts to rob.

seriously talented league player (amuses me to see him described as a rugby player - different game). strong, fast and has that unpredictable wow factor (i say that as someone who has never supported any team he has played for bar australia itself). terrific attacker, one of the best. also very good defender.

really backed himself to go from one of the highest paid players in league to risking it all. he would be welcomed back to league at a high wage if he wanted to return. so not a total risk to him.

kick returner might be a place he can star. in time running back.

but the odds are, to me, that he'll struggle. not for a lack of talent but will be hard to come over with no background and try and compete at the absolute highest level - he might have been better signing with the skins or bucs. he'd have immediately been one of the best players on the roster.

hard enough for players to move between rugby league and rugby union (league and rugby respectively) let alone a totally different game.

Bears just dealt Marshall to the Jets for a 5th rd pick. Lance Briggs is gone also.

Looks like Seahawks might get Andre Johnson. Teach the young ones how to run routes.........

Weird couple days for Philly. We signed Frank Gore then he backed out and went to Indy (not cool), McCourty reupped with NE (not unexpected), and swapped Foles for Bradford as well as first round picks with the Rams. I actually like the Bradford acquisition quite a bit. If he can stay healthy he's a great fit for Chip Kelly.

Colts just signed Frank Gore and Trent Cole, and supposedly Andre Johnson is also here to talk about a deal. Nice players, but signing FAs on the back end of their careers doesn't seem to be the formula for a championship. Really need to solidify their offensive and defensive lines, and add depth at linebacker and safety.

First off, love the Bania avatar! It's gold, wabashcr, gold.

Anyway I wish Philly had brought back Trent Cole. I love that dude. Can't have too many situational pass rushers in today's NFL and Trent can still get after it. He will be missed. I think you'll like that signing in the long run.

surely not? surely that would have been illegal?

skins been very quiet. sydner must be having fits.

interesting to watch the eagles. there have been a few surprises. maclin and mccoy.

glad cole has also moved to another division. if there is any truth to them wanting to trade up for mariotta, it all seems odd. if they are getting draft picks as well as bradford, could it be to stockpile the picks for a move up? but do you want sanchez, bradford and mariotta all on the roster? especially as they have bugger all to throw to at the moment. and taking on bradford pretty much wipes out the big dosh they saved on mccoy.

and where does this leave the rams for a QB? do they see foles as a starter and would they think him better than bradford? surely not? i guess it will save them plenty of cap space.

as for the draft, i think they are at 10? you'd have to believe the top two gone by then.

might be very ironic if in a year or two, if RG3 returns to stellar form, the pendulum swings back and the skins end up with the best of that mega-deal.

Graham to Seattle. Needless to day I LOVE this move. Finally a true number one receiver.

It came at a heavy price. Unger was the 'QB' of that O-line. Although I've heard there is a statistic out there that they were no better with him than without him. Graham ain't the best blocker but man will it be nice for Russ to have someone to consistently look for down the field that can make some plays. Still love the move though as it will make our O that much more exciting to watch.

Agreed, Unger was a gamer, but if it was Graham running that slant and not lockette, thats a sure td right there! Its a solid move. Saints fans are very upset with the move so thats saying alot.

If AJ agrees to a deal there, then I think you will be pleasantly surprised. He was terribly misused last year. He still has some gas in the tank and he would be playing with an elite QB for the first time in his career, so I think that could potentially work out well for you guys. That certainly wasn't going to happen down here with the Texans. I have no idea what the hell they're doing and I'm starting to think they don't either.

Only cause they're losing a highly visible production player. They'll come around when they realize what they're getting in Unger...hard pill to swallow when you think "oh he's just a center". Aside from the QB and the RB, Center is one of the most critical positions on an Offense. Much more so than TE. I think it's a win for both teams, but will depend on what Payton can do with those picks.

query to seahawks fans - given the salary they'll be paying graham for some time (and yes, i know offset by unger's going), and the fact that they will be doing a new, massive contract for wilson next year (perhaps the biggest the game has ever seen), is there a hint of eggs all in the basket for next season, knowing they must lose players after that? not that they won't still be strong but they must surely lose some key players, you'd think.
