Fosgate Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Denver is really gutting the coaching staff and looks like they are looking to shelve the free agents. Comments from Karl Mecklinburg (Former defense captain) on his Facebook page and I couldn't agree with him more. "Free agency in the NFL is a selfish position. Free agents are looking to get paid. More often than not their choice of where to go comes down to money; not going back to the hometown, or playing in a system that’s better for their game, or even winning a championship before they retire. The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots have built their teams through the draft. The top players and leaders on their teams know only the Patriot way, or the Seahawk culture. Yes they add free agents now and then to fill holes in their rosters, but the core of the teams are home grown. They play for each other and the result is great football. A couple of news items have come out since the Super Bowl that reinforce my view of free agency. First of all Seattle’s secondary played injured in the Super Bowl. The starters all checked into the hospital after the game. Team players will play hurt, selfish players will not. When a team is built mostly of free agents then that free agent selfishness becomes the culture of the team. Even the home grown guys pick it up. If you can’t play with your injuries don’t play, but the Broncos had players that were shutting it down in the playoffs just to protect themselves from possible injury. Apparently because they were free agents at the end of the year and about to get paid, they thought the smart thing to do was to avoid contact. These guys were drafted by the Broncos but the free agent culture has obviously taken over at Dove Valley. The second news that came out was that there was talk in the locker room that “Bronco players didn’t want to go to Foxboro.” I can’t imagine not wanting to move on in the playoffs. Is it too hard to play in New England? I guess tee times are less strenuous. I’m frustrated by the Broncos culture at this point and agree that heads needed to roll at Dove Valley. Gary Kubiak and the staff he brought in will not tolerate individuals in a team sport. Hopefully the healing and the team play we can all be proud of will be back." "My rant yesterday ended without a solution, but I think the Broncos have already started to address the solution. The inseason contract extension of Chris Harris, locking him up for 5 years, along with the firing of the coaching staff are a good start. The fact that they signed Harris first, instead of either Thomas, should let players and fans alike know that Elway and the Broncos value consistent, team centered play. Pot Roast should be the next player signed, but Del Rio may bring him with to Oakland. Do I think Peyton is part of the problem? Yes, unless he is willing to renegotiation his contract like Elway did towards the end of his career to free up salary cap money. Did Manning come here to win Super Bowls or to pad his stats and wallet? When I saw Manning throw into coverage on third and 5 against Indianapolis, instead of running for an easy first down, his motivation was clear. It used to be that the majority of players stayed on one team throughout their career. You became committed to each other, because you faced so many challenges side by side through the years. Now one of the biggest challenges an NFL coach faces is building a strong, team first culture in a world of mercenaries. It is up to the coaches and management to make the value of players being team centered clear. Do you remember New England Patriots running back Jonas Gray ran for 199 yards against Indianapolis in the regular season? He missed a meeting the next week and was moved so far down the depth chart that he was inactive for the Super Bowl. Team success in the NFL is about the motivation of the individual player and coach. Are you a Bronco or an NFL receiver? Actions speak louder that words."
Skyfall Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Not getting screwed in the playoffs on the last "legitimate catch" of the game hopefully... 1
CigarMike Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Well I'm a big Denver fan so I can see where your coming from on all of this.
Ken Gargett Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Not getting screwed in the playoffs on the last "legitimate catch" of the game hopefully... of course they would not have been "screwed" as alleged, though personally i reckon the refs got that one right, if the refs had not dudded the lions most outrageously the week before with the pass interference reversal call. how much did that cost jerry? they would not have even been there! meanwhile the skins will be out there finding a new QB controversy. spare me, rg3 played injured. he needs to be given a fair shot when fit to see if he still has it or if he doesn't. leave the kid alone. we will also be seeing if we can find a few more no name defensive coaches who went 0-16 with their previous team and dodging the bullet of blokes like philips and fangio. seriously, blokes who know how to win are the last thing we need. and of course, we will find the oldest, slowest, most injured and especially most expensive free agents and throwing what remains of our salary cap at them. 2
Bernardini Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 As a Jets fan, I know the team is working really hard this off season to improve to 5-11. Hopefully, Geno Smith is also practicing to improve his accuracy. He should stand on the beach, 15 yards from the water, and see if he can throw it in the ocean! That will be a good start.
pbibby Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 My Vikings are looking to draft a Louisville WR Devante Parker. Would probably have instant chemistry with Teddy Bridgewater. They also need to get cordarell Paterson to get his head out of his arse.

With AP back and if they can get Fitzgerald, focus on D in the draft, the Vikings have a very bright future! 1
titla1k Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Priority is to extend Revis (minimise his 25m cap hit), re-sign or franchise tag McCourty, and re-sign Ghost, all in that order. Unfortunately it looks like Wilfork will become a cap victim as he's just not worth his 8/9m cap hit. Given he restructured last year I imagine he would be loathe to do it again. Maybe we should get in touch with Pot Roast's agent?
riazp Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 You mean other than still tryin to figure out why the F Carroll called that pass play?!?!?! Seahawks will probably give a huge contract extension to Wilson, Probably try to sign Lynch, Rumour mill has it that Suh would like to sign for seattle being from the pacific north west but I cant see how they can make that work cap wise. Overall the core of the team is coming back and with a weak nfc west will probably make another run at the suberbowl. 1

With AP back and if they can get Fitzgerald, focus on D in the draft, the Vikings have a very bright future! I don't see that happening. Spielman and co have worked hard to get the team young quickly. If Fitz was 26 I could see it but not at 31. Curious to see what they do with AP...
AlBaron Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 My Bears are going through a lot of changes, again . New GM, new coaching staff, new defensive scheme, hopefully new QB... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Curious to see what they do with AP... They won't break the bank on him, or skew what they are trying to do. I agree to some extent, but apparently he would like to end his career there, so depends on the amount of a home town discount. I have a gut feeling Peterson stays. They won't get any true value for him, and he is fresh given he sat out last year. He'll come back, in great shape with a chip on his shoulder. Should be interesting.
purpleloki Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 He'll come back, in great shape with a chip on his shoulder. Teddy and an angry AP in the same backfield is a dream come true for Norv! 1

SmittyinAZ Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Most NFL players can't wait to become FA's. They know that's pay day which takes priority over all else. Remember, just like hold outs, they have to 'make sure their families are taken care of'. JOKE. Denver had their shots, just like the my Niners for 3 years. You only a get a few years at it, then players age, injuries, contracts run out etc. Just how it is. The NFL is a cycle. The AFC will be strong for 5-7 years or so, then the NFC will be. The NFC West was a joke for a long time, all teams made good draft choices, now they are strong. Just a few exclusions to this theory of cycles tho- the Jets, the Raiders and Browns. All will continue to sink no matter what. Sorry fans of those teams, but you guys already now it. ha
riazp Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Of those three teams (Jets, Raiders, Browns) I think the Raiders are the best of the worst if you ask me, I like what they are doing in the coaching department. They just might be actually decent one day.

El Presidente Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Bucs will improve to 5-11. It will be deemed a success. We will beat Washington again.

We will beat Washington again. seriously? you beat us once. we might be a walking toilet but you managed to beat us last year for the first time since about 09 or 07, i think. remember, even rg3 managed a game winning drive against your lot. 1
GavLew79 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Raiders will improve this year, I'm hoping for at least evens, 8-8. We have a future star in Carr as QB and the new staff sound promising.
