Professor Twain
For me, going deep is buying 2 50-cabs, or 3-5 regular boxes. I'll do that for cigars that I believe will be great with age. I'll keep my eyes out for sales. I'll only do so once I'm convinced they are good and have aging potential. My list for doing that is: RASS (2 cabs in 07, bought 2 more in 2013) RA Superiores (5 boxes of 10) Boli Britanicas (5 boxes of 10) Monte 4 and 5 (I smoke them a lot, like them with 3 years but don't care about going longer than that, so I always have 6-8 boxes on hand) Upmann Half Coronas (I've bought 5 boxes of 25, trying not to touch them much, want them to get some age)
pbibby
Those 50 cab Boli PC's are special!!! Definitely a cut above the boxes.I would kill for one of these! And if they ever discontinue the BPC, give me a call and I will join you on your quest to kill all of the higher ups at HSA......

Should be a 96-?? with age. 93 for me right now!!!
airtrade
Right there with you. The Cazadores are something I put up in quantity because they never fail to satisfy and are reasonably priced. Wilkey I enjoy these a lot. Have half a box from a split and would like to get more but I don't recall seeing them here. Is the foil they come in sealed so they can't be easily inspected? torsion
Found this thread on going deep (get your mind out of the gutter!) and with the recent rumors of scarcity, potential wrapper shortages and discontinuation, I thought to revive this one. For my own circumstances and selfishness, with family planning on the imminent agenda in my household, I anticipate any disposable income will diminish rapidly as we move into next year so since the summer I have been "building stock" to hopefully reap the benefits of ageing and availability in years to come, mostly all are regular production. Deepest I have are PL Montecarlos with 5 boxes. B/SOTL - over to you. What preferences have you had this year and are stocking up on?

Perla
Went deep into LGC No. 3 when I had the chance too. Wonderful smoke. LGC Tainos found a source and had a great plan to buy box for box, BUT than came USA and spoiled my genius plan. Hey USA enjoy them! RA Perfectos Suiza because I like them. RA 8-9-8 because I like them. PL Montecarlos hmmm yum yum. PL Secretos little bugger and worth the coin. What I don't enjoy I trade, sell or gifted them away. In all these years a good guide.
TheLiquidGator
13 and 14 EX.# 4 are my "new" go deep. Stellar boxes from Rob. The last PSP box I received just floored me.

stunod
I go deep on cigars that I like and are being produced at the top of their game. For example the R&J Churchill. Absolut perfection for the last 2 years. I buy as many as I can afford assuming the quality won't last mush longer. Now I could be wrong but that's my thînking.

danny
Usually find myself going deep on cigars that I find myself constantly smoking through boxes of.... This entire year, it'd be: 2014 - ULA Bolivars MUL Partagas Lusitanias and PSD4's MUO CoRo and Esplendido Monte #2's EML Diplo #2's MUO RyJ Churchills Yolando Canonazo's and Monsdale customs Tatuaje TAA's Can't get enough! Habana Mike
Deepest I've gone was the RACF and glad I did! Of late it's more the standards in the Partagas, Cohiba, Upmann and Bolivar ranges due to shortage/inflation concerns along with the great quality we've seen of late. That and more bang for the buck than LE/RE/other special programs...... Did drop a bit on the RA 898 RE and the LE Dons recently as I believe those could both be classics or at minimum decent investments.
Popular Post Jeremy Festa
All very interesting, and foreign to me. I have never gone deep, on cigars. I have bought 2 or 3 boxes of the same cigar, but never at the same time. Only when I get near halfway through a box and they are thoroughly enjoyable do I re-up my stock. And living so close to 'the source' is both a blessing and a curse. For me, variety is the spice of life. At this point in time, and at the current rate I smoke, I have a 10 year supply of cigars. Which is ludicrous to me, even though I am so fanatical about cigars. And as a by-product of the volume of cigars I currently have, at home and in my OLH, everything ages, and that means some may indeed go past their peak age. God forbid. Worth mentioning that, the price I pay for cigars living here in Australia has a positive and negative effect on my choices too. The negative is that it sucks balls that cigars are so expensive. But the positive is, the expensiveness has become the norm to me, and as a result, if a discontinued, aged, ltd ed or special 'special' cigar crops up, then I can simply buy it. The price doesn't come into consideration. If I did live overseas, or bought more duty free, I probably would 'go deep,' so to speak, but only on a very few cigars in particular. So, hypothetically, if I was to "go deep," I 100% wouldn't tell the No.1 Cigar Forum Community in the World which cigars I would be "going deep" on, until I had "gone deep." Simply because you backstards would buy them all. Happy Holidays mothertruckers
ChefBoyRG54
I like a lot of variety and I rarely smoke the same cigar twice in a short period of time. But, I have gone deep on Cohiba as a whole, buying more than a dozen different boxes from their lines, and if everything arrives safely, I've gone extra deep on the la escepion Don Jose First world problems! maverickdrinker
I tend to pick up boxes of a certain marcas/vitolas every year to keep a vertical going. Gives me the opportunity to try the same vitola over a range of years. I also tend to buy from certain rollers every year in Havana. The odd regional release I will buy multiple boxes of due to the limited number of boxes produced. I started to stockpile since 2008 in anticipation of the elimination of the Embargo as I fear quality will go down to meet demands on the American consumer wanting to try a Cuban cigar.
