Tried one from a store here in Canada last summer, $90+ with our taxes. Enjoyed it but our price is ridiculous.

Tried another in Cambodia last year for $60+ but at the end if my trip where I smoked a couple everyday. Still enjoyed it but I should have smokedvit with a clean palette

Love the 1966! AS other's have said, there are similar cigars in the Cohiba Marca still, I'd go with the Cohiba PE

For me, 2014 EL isn't taste better then 1966 was.

1966 now cost 700 average, too expensive for anyone, how about turn to Montecristo 520 (2012 EL)? They are cheaper and nearly the time to taste well.

Some shops still have them available..less than e370 in Germany, and less than 350CHF in Switzerland, you just need to know where to look!

I've often wondered whether there is an MSRP that almost no one will pay.

I've also wondered whether big RG cigars are as popular in the eastern hemisphere as they are in the western hemisphere. I mean, I know some collectors will buy anything and pay anything to have the latest releases, but sometimes it seems like HSA is in the midst of an experiment to see how high they can price smokes and how much they can cut costs by loading these fatties with extra velado.

Not very communistic of them is it?

I'm torn by this, my curiosity want to try these new releases but even if I enjoy them I can't afford many of them. I also don't love the hog leg sized sticks too much.

Communist in name only - have been socialist from the outset, just like USSR, China, Bulgaria, etc. In communism, the people own everything, such as in indigenous cultures. In Socialism, a wealthy elite hold everything "in trust for the people."

I'm happy with my regular releases - even with all of the RE and EL released over the years, most of the "my favorite" threads reveal that folks tend to prefer the regular run-of-the-mill sticks. I've been enjoying the last of my PL Robustos RE from 2007, but a good PLPC beats them every time. Ditto the RA REs I've tried.

And, yes, the hog logs look foolish and, for me, have never delivered the complexity I get from PCs, lonsdales, lanceros, and the like.

There is. It was whatever the price they were charging for the Trinidad Short Robustos EL.

Smoked a 1996 last night after a phenomenal dinner with my wife.

Prime aged strip steaks with foie gras and a cognac cream sauce, a great Cab and this being our 30th Valentine's Day together called for a special smoke.

Paired with Cognac which proved to be a good match for the smoke.

Very rich and, to me earthier than most of the Cohiba lines. Wood, hay, citrus, bean and spice all came to play. Strength moved from medium to strong as the cigar progressed.

Quite enjoyable and well worth smoking though I doubt I'll be seeking these out due to the escalating prices.
