El Presidente Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 It seemed like a good idea at the time ...... ken and I find ourselves in your neck of the woods. Ken has sourced another location with "giant fish" and we are transiting through your city/town for 24 hours with fly rods and maxed out credit cards in tow. ken posts it on the forum as he is giddy with excitement. He has already packed his one set of clean clothes, 5 Springsteen CD's and picture of RGIII. I haven't told Di yet but assume she just read the post as I can hear angry footsteps coming up to the deck. You reach out via PM for a Cigar dinner party while we are in town. You are going to invite 3 cigar loving mates so 6 in total. You have to cook yourself. it should preferably be a regional specialty 3 cigars only and from your own stock. Wine/s or other beverage that you are enjoying. So the questions What meal would you cook? Again preferably a regional specialty. What cigars would you lay out? What wines/beverages would you offer? No....this is not an audition

HarveyBoulevard Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Ok, party at my house? Let me check the pantry, humidor and the liquor cabinet… …this is what we can have tonight without me having to go to the store!! What meal would you cook? Again preferably a regional specialty. There are no regional specialties for a Southern Boy in Southern California so your getting Mexican Pizza! Homemade dough…refried beans…seasoned ground beef…cheese variety. Once cooked you add tomato, green onion, Cholula, and sour cream. (don’t knock it until you try it!!) What cigars would you lay out? Hard choice but they would all likely have an LCDH band. I’d likely dry box… 1. LGC Inmensos 2. Bolivar Libertador 3. H Upmann Royal Robusto What wines/beverages would you offer? You get two choices, water or/and scotch! You get to choose from the following… 1. Lagavulin 16 2. Laphroaig 18 3. Glenlivet 12 4. Glenlivet 15 5. Glenlivet 18 6. Glenlivet 21 (…I also have milk, orange juice, apple juice, and a few juiceboxes but you will have to fight a baby to get those!) See you next weekend! 2

Fuzz Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I can't cook, so what cigar and booze goes with McDonald's Happy Meals? 2
earthson Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Cornmeal dusted venison backstraps fried in butter and onions, salad (I grow a dizzying array of greens and make some mean dressings), yukon gold potatoes (baked, sliced, fried in extra virgin olive oil, and dusted with asiago) PLMC, RASS, HUSW An array of IPA/Double IPA (although I favor Bell's Two-Hearted Ale, Dogfishhead 90 minute, and Hop Wallop) Marie Duffau Hors d'Age Armagnac A jar or 2 of the local corn squeezins, activated charcoal filtered twice, aged with charred oak But the fishing is terrible in this land-locked, lake-less area, so I doubt y'all will be fishing around here anytime soon. (Fun fact, the only natural lake in the state of Tennessee was formed during an earthquake in the 1800s. Another fun fact, anyone who eats fish from the reservoirs likes the taste of the leaking septic tanks.)
JohnS Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I can't cook, so what cigar and booze goes with McDonald's Happy Meals? I'm guessing Partagas D6's (not because it's a cheap or poor cigar but because it's a quick smoke) and lite beer!
CoCigarSmoker Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Do you guys even realize how difficult this is given I haven't eaten since breakfast? Either way let me take a stab and I'll give you two options. Being from Colorado I would feel remise not offering you a big steak! That being said the regional meal is "rocky mountain oysters" (I'll let you google what that is...lol. To start: French bread crostini's with garlic infused olive oil, artichoke hearts, black olives, and a mozzarella and parmesan cheese mix baked in the oven. A glass of Pinot Gris and a Fuente Short Story. Main Course: 10oz bacon rapped filet mignon seared to perfection on the grill and finished in the oven and basted with butter. A large opened face baked potato with bacon bits, cheddar cheese, sour cream, fresh chives, and butter and side of French green beans. This will be accompanied by a glass of 2005 Bordeaux. Desert: a light and fresh plain cheese cake to refresh the palate garnished with a mint sprig. This will be paired with a glass of Tawny port to add a fruit dimension to the dessert. The cigar of choice will be a smooth, creamy, and short Monte #4. The end of the evening will be spent reminiscing over the fact that I thought I could cook when in reality we ordered carryout. however, this will be done while enjoying a Cohiba Siglo VI and a glass of Highlands Park 21. Second option only because I love Italian food. To start: Homemade and garden fresh Bruschetta served with a light Chianti and paired with an AVO XO Rubusto Main Course: Homemade vodka sauce served over a bed of penne pasta and pan seared sea scallops. This will be paired with either a Malbec or a white Bordeaux. Dessert: The desert served will be a Tiramisu served with an espresso dopio. Sorbet will be served to cleanse the palate before enjoying a Monte Petit Edmundo. The evening will leave the table only to retire to the deck to watch the sunset over the mountains whilst enjoying a Cohiba Behike 54 and a glass over McCallan 21. And again the conversation will turn to how lovely that dinner would have been but how surprised you all were that cigars and wine actually DO go along with McDonalds . I hope this has left you all as hungry as I have, now if you will excuse me, I must finish my Rocky Patel 1990 Robusto and grab some dinner . Cheers, Seth
AbuAmelia Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I'll make it real easy..... If you (Rob) happened to come in the summer months to San Diego, California... I would replicate the spread you had at the pool party in Cuba, except for middle eastern cuisine. Lots of appetizers. The food and dessert wouldn't stop. Instead of the Pig, I would roast a whole lamb. For drinks, I would have everything, but since it would be a pool party, I'd have he bartender making us Mojitos with Cuban Rum. For Cigars, I'd start out with some Ramon Allones Phoenicia 30th Libano. So book your ticket and come with Di in the summer! We'd love to have ya. Andrew 1

If he does not try it there is a ban on Springsteen for the evening) Desert Wild Ontario blueberry crumble Selection of Canadian Artisanal cheese. Beverages: A selection of Canadian wines. ogus Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Smoked Beef and lots of it Partagas and Montecristo Single Malt and Port and yes you are welcome, yeah Rob and Ken
coug28 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Fun question...in this hypothetical can Ken be wearing socks? Don't wanna be too unrealistic and ask for shoes too . Dinner - Filet Oscar (mid-rare) w/ Dungeness crab, asparagus & blue cheese mashed potatoes Smokes - 2003 Upmann Sir Winston, 2009 Trinidad Robusto T & an Edmundos Conde 109 for the finale (perhaps better starter considering we'd all be plastered by this time) Drinks - whatever your pleasure. My bar is your bar. Beers, wine, champagne, Scotch et. al. Likely a nice Leonetti Cabernet for dinner & then a free for all thereafter. Cheers!

JohnS Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I've just thought of a wonderful 'win-win' situation for everyone. What about inviting Rob (w/Di of course) and Ken for dinner and drinks, then doing a cigar video review with them afterwards? Logistically speaking, it may be too hard to do timewise and outside Brisbane, but it would be a wonderful thought right?

Bill Hayes Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 If it was this time of year and I had sufficient notice then I would try and organise a spearfishing trip. If I got very very lucky then the meal would consist of: Oysters from Batemans Bay (purchased) Kingfish belly sashimi Chilled steamed southern rock lobster Pan grilled green lip abalone BBQ whole stuffed snapper Thai style Drinks: I was gifted a bottle of Dom Perignon 2004. Perfect time to break it out I reckon. I would have to purchase some Pierro Chardonnay. Wouldn’t match the cigars but it’s my favourite. For Christmas I got a bottle of Ron Zacapa Sisterma Solera 23 Gran Reserva. So that would come out too. Cigars: SLR DC 04 Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No2 01 Cohiba DC 03 If I wasn’t lucky with the fishing then: Billy’s Special StKilda Festival Five Alarm Tequila Liqueur infused Chilli served with corn chips, shredded cheese and sour cream followed by Korean BBQ Kalbi pork chops and slaw while watching the Superbowl. Dale’s Pale Ale Ron Zacapa Sisterma Solera 23 Gran Reserva Patron XO Cafe Tequila Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No2 01 Punch Punch BBF
El Presidente Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Magnificent people...MAGNIFICENT!!!!
kb20four Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I live in Los Angeles so we don't really have a regional food. We would start off with rascc and Macallan 12 year old scotch. Then for dinner we would have lamb shanks with rice, baked lamb chops on the side, salad. After the main corse some fried shrimps. With the meal it's your choice of either Stolichnaya Elite vodka, or continue with the Scotch. After dinner we would have Cohiba Lanceros or Trinidad Fundadores.
Troels Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hmn, id cook something heavy and fairly simple, like a well made chili or beef stroganoff , break out a case of beer, whatever decent rum I could come up and make chocolate dessert based on premium ingrediens - coffee and more rum Hdm 2 with a light drink like a mojito before eating, winnie or ryj Churchill for dessert and a lusi for late night drinks. I know, foods will not qualify me for a bocuse d'or, but be great setting for good times in my book, without leaving me devastated once the guests arrive
