So most folks expect to feel the nicotine when smoking a Bolivar CJ. Many full body cigars taste and feel like full body cigars. What cigars have surprised you. For example, you are just sitting there enjoying your smoke, possibly admiring its flawless construction and sipping on your beverage. Next thing you know, you start rambling to the person next to you or decide to stand and get a head rush. It just came out of nowhere due to how smooth or flavorful profile of the smoke.

I don't have much experience with CC, but two that come to mind are the Opus X Perfecxion #5, a tiny little stick at just under 5'' with a 40 ring gauge surprised me after the 1st third. And another time with my first Liga Privada No. 9. Oddly enough, the head rush has never happened again with those two cigars.

Some of those CJs are head hammers for sure! Much too strong for my taste, so I've got mine resting - should help with the boatload of tannins they came with, too.

Happened to me so far having a Partagas E 2 for breakfast one morning with not much in my stomach for breakfast lol.

Most recently with an Opus X xxx (small piramide, smaller than a petit uincos) that I lit around brunch time after having a small breakfast an hour or so before. I was waiting for the gf to finish up her optometrist appointment when i got to the last third and i felt a bit dizzy, and once done, i definitely had caught a buzz lol - a bit nauseous and desperately seeking a heavy lunch to stave off my light-headedness.

It was my first Opus X and wow those suckers are strong. Tasty but very imbalanced IMO.

Couple months ago I was smoking my first HdM DC, it was all fine until I got down to the nub, the next thing I know I have myself wrapped around the toilet and vomiting dinner. This killed DCs for me. Never had anything larger than a Churchill ever since.

Smoked a ERDM CS from 2010. My first cigar after a 3 week break from cigars. Paired it with a Vesper martini and a glass of red and 10 minutes after finishing the cigar and drinks I started to get tunnel vision and practically collpased. Had never happened to me before. I've smoked multiple strong cigars in a single night and never felt that sick before.

Me and a girlfriend were both smoking a HdM DC as well last spring. When done, we went inside and she started to feel ill. She was seriously sick for some time after that :(

I can say I have never felt any nicotine sickness... a rush and faster heart rate yes, but that is it. I'm either lucky or am not prone to it.

Damn, that is terrible. I have never had that type of experience. I hope you give the larger sticks a try again some day, they have so much to offer if you don't get sick.

The most surprising experience I ever felt was from a wee Monte 4, I believe its box code was from the prior year, so one would expect well fermented tobacco in the pilas and then a solid year post rolling. Should be no nicotine (or very little left). I was typing away on a report one evening on a roof deck in Saigon when I lit this little baby up. The rush hit me almost immediately (like, by the 3rd draw) and it totally amped me up at first. I remember thinking, "Wow! so this is why all the great writers smoked and drank!" And man I just flew through my typing. The first draft was brilliant! lookaround.gif (At least it seemed so at the time). By the time I'd gotten to the 3/4 mark and stood up to go to the john, my head just spun and I sat right back down again. Total vertigo! lol2.gif No nausea, just dizzy and hyper. None of the other sticks in the box of 25 produced the same result.

I've never had such an extreme experience since from any marca or vitola, DC's, prominentes, you name it. Maybe I need to switch to fresher cigars . . . :P

I've felt the headrush twice. The first time was with a Mag 46 which really surprised me.The second and more recent time was with a NC,namely an Oliva V DR,but that was down to some foolishness in that I smoked it on an empty stomach and it really did give me a kicking,it actually put me to sleep for an hour or so afterwards! Lesson learned.

I had an RyJ #3 knock me on my ass a few years ago

I smoked it in the evening before dinner and I was throwing up and feeling generally crap for hours afterwards.

Hasn't happened since then though

FYI, if you feel shaky or nauseous after smoking, eat simple sugar - spoonful of honey, piece of fruit, or similar (I would imagine table sugar would take a little longer to work).

It's an old trick for curing the coffee jitters. The only cigars that have made me feel ill were NC powerhouses like Cain, Joya de Nicaragua, and La Flor Dominicanas.

I'm partial to the Bolivar PC and CJ, so am somewhat tolerant to a bit of a kick, however cutting back severely on my calorie intake since end of November I find I get a buzz from all my cigars... I remember reading somewhere that the antidote is a glass of regular coke. The sugar is supposed to help. That seems to be corroborated by my dieting experience. Down 23 lbs and 4 more to go to hit my target weight and get back some nicotine buzz tolerance.

The only cigar that has ever made me feel queasy was a maduro La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero on an empty stomach in 90*F heat. Had to go inside and lie down in the A/C...

I felt dizzy the first time I tried a Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro Principe Cigar...couldn't believe the kick it gave me for such a small cigar!

RyJ Cazzies give me a kick. No other cigars I smoke do it to me like a Cazzie.

I thought I was going mad, but reading these I feel better.

Has a Ramon Allones grandes on the weekend and puked afterwards. The room was spinning like when you get pissed as a teenager. It lasted several hours and I ate food afterwards. I didn't know if it was the 4 coffees or the cigar. Neither have affected me before.
