OZCUBAN Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Thanks for posting Tony This was my biggest discovery from being in Japan Cheers
peterk814 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I just picked up a bottle of the 15 year old and 20 year old yoichi ***** while iw as in tokyo last month. apparently the people whom i gifted it to really liked it. Even more so than the yamazaki 18. 1
... Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Very cool and interesting, I have not sampled Japanese whiskeys yet but will try and make up for it in 2015. Thanks for sharing!

smokenj Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I have tried the ***** Whisky From A Barrel and the Hibiki 17 Year Old. I would highly recommend either of them, but I was more found of the 17 Year.
joshua84 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I find Japanese whisky emulates closely to Speyside whisky except that it gives a cleaner and fresher flavor. But where I am, they are charging a huge premium for Japanese whisky compared to Scotch single malt making it not worth it at that price range. Money aside, do quite like the Yoichi 15 years. 1
JohnS Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 A few of you I've noticed have purchased ***** From The Barrel lately. What do you think of these Japanese whiskies below: ***** From The Barrel, Hibiki 12 Year Old, ***** 12 Year Old Taketsuru Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve, Hakushu Distiller's Reserve
Nrengle Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Such a markup outside of Japan. I picked up a bottle of Hibiki for about 40 US after exchange, get back home it's like 85 or so depending on the state! Definitely stocking up next time I'm there.

BOTL Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 It was a bitter defeat for the Scottish distilleries last year, because a single malt from Japan has been named the best whisky in the world. I tried the Yamamaki single malt (12 years) and the Hibiki Suntory whisky (17 years). I like it 1
