Kpmx77 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Big bourbon drinker here new to the site. Just curious what is your favorite pour for a nice occasion?
Kpmx77 Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 My personal favorite are Michters 20 bourbon, George T Stagg and Four Roses
Rye Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Good ol standby for me when I want something different then a scotch is Woodford. Second is Evan Williams single barrel
sengjc Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 As a predominantly single malt and cognac drinker I am quite partial to the occasional Four Roses Single Barrel, Eagle Rare 10 Year Old, Bernheim and Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve.
CaptainQuintero Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Gotta let Woodford take my first prize ribbon
SEOguy10 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Bookers, it's like brown sugar pie in a glass
trader1974 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Nice to see you here. I'm just down the road from you in Elizabethtown. I would probably have to go with Elijah Craig Barrel Proof (when I can find it!)
Hafner32 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Elmer T Lee, hard pressed to find anything as good at the pricepoint although Woodford Reserve would get an honorable mention
bacalao Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 On my second bottle of Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon
NMJoe Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I am partial to barrel proof bourbons. If price and chasing unicorns weren't an issue, I'd go with GTS. However, from a budget and availability standpoint, I do think that Bookers is fairly good for the price.
KJND Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Really surprised at all the Woodford votes... The last bottle I tried had a very metallic-ish aftertaste. ETL, 4R1B, Turkey Rare Breed, Old Weller Antique and Buffalo Trace was the majority of my consumption last year. Top Shelf special occasion type stuff- Any of the BTAC, Stagg Jr(after Batch 1 it has gotten better) and 4R Sm Batch LE 2014
herc1119 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I have tried many, and I still come back to Jack Black. Call me crazy, I love it's bite. Maker's Mark is cool too.
saintsmokealot Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Four roses single barrel gets my vote
Knilas Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Buffalo Trace or Elijah Craig 12 yr. Based on very limited experience. Edit: Picked up some Elmer T after Xmas. Holy canoli that stuff is good!! Best I've had so far. Just wish it was easier to find. Now to find some Weller 12 yr...
SofaKing Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I dont drink bourbon but over the holiday bought some Willets pot still and Jefferson Reserve.it was well received by the bourbon drinkers that had it.
TM-US Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Favorite pour for a special occasion? Not so easy. One of these: '14 George T. Stagg '14 William Larue Weller '13 Four Roses 125th Anniversary Small Batch
JohnS Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I've tried them all, but the one I love the most is Blanton's.
ethernomad Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I was gifted a small bottle of Elijah Craig 18 for Xmas. I don't think I'll ever be able to raise another glass of Turkey. Best I've had so far.
