dougincanada Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 After reading Ken's post about more Bruce Springsteen music (poor Rob). I thought about what song sets the perfect mood for my perfect song cigar combo. Even though I mostly like rock, my best combo would be: My Way - Frank Sinatra, a HdM Epicure 2, and a Mohito with fresh mint. I feel smug and self satisfied just thinking about it. Any one else have a music-cigar combo that rocks their world?
Geo17pip Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 SRV, Santana, and buena Vista Social Club. Any habano will do.
cigarbreak Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Hot Water Music, 90's Hip Hop, The Black Keys, Jazz, or anything really except for Dance music (not because I don't like it but mainly as the tempo is too fast to find relaxation) and music with Whale sounds. I hate music with whale sounds 1
jjdolphin Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Good topic. Whenever I am on Youtube watching a documentary on Cuba or cigars, I hear this great music in the background. Cuban music, appropriate for cigar smoking. Not the Latin music you hear generally, salsa etc. Anyone have specific artists or groups that fit the bill? Nothing too modern but more traditional sound. I would love to download some of the music for my personal enjoyment.
Sophistic Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 love sinatra, absolutely hate my way & most of the other later stuff. the lps he did in the mid/late 50s are the real deal. for smoking: bill evans trio kills everything, also good: moanin by art blakey & the jazz messengers, a couple of songs by mulatu astatke are super relaxing/perfect for cigar smoking, other cool jazz artist like miles, chet baker, stan getz... 1

I would love to download some of the music for my personal enjoyment. Darte Un Beso by Prince Royce. This song brings me back to the warm and wonderful Paladar my gf and I ate at near the fortress in Havana. The band was practicing their rendition of it so we heard it over and over again and every time I hear it I think great Cuban food, atmosphere and the smell of Cuban tobacco, and of course the great time my gf and I had.

Ken Gargett Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I like listening to The Shadows. you mean "i like lurking in the shadows". great cuban music hard to beat but, as we have so often proved on the videos, bruce is ideal.
Fuzz Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 you mean "i like lurking in the shadows". Yeah, well, that too!
LLC Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I normally prefer alternative music but I do have a Cuban music mix for when I'm missing Havana.
DrunkenMonkey Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Sophistic hit it on the head. Nothing better for smoking than Bill Evans, in my opinion.
JC67 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Downloaded versions of 2ser fm music show " back to funk"
subiemech Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Its like somebody crossbred Mad Max and Deliverance. I loved it!
Smallclub Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Sophistic hit it on the head. Nothing better for smoking than Bill Evans, in my opinion. I love Bill Evan's work from the 60's, and modal jazz (Miles, etc.), and hard bop; these musics put me in the good mood to enjoy a fine cigar. (I also like Schubert's lieder with a complex cigar, near the fire place, but I keep it a secret because I don't want to sound too sophisticated )

Still worth the effort.
