aushy
Hey guys, I'm buying a xikar hygrometer from a US site so I thought I would pick up a few NCs as well since I'm already paying for the shipping. I've never smoked a NC before but can anybody recommend me something decent? I'm not looking to buy a whole box but will probably buy a few small packs or singles. Also, surely this isn't the first time this question has come up but searching for 'NC' or 'non-cuban' gives me no results. What's the best way to search for these threads? Thanks! LordAnubis
I've tried a few Tatuajes (both brown label and black label and both have been really good) Other than that arturo fuente short stories i like and God of Fire churchills (but these are quite expensive)
...
I just reordered a box of Diesel Shorty for Christmas. They fill a niche in the taste department although they are a bit heavy ring gage wise. Since Cuba doesn't produce any broadleaf tobacco and I crave the taste once in a while, this cigar does the trick
aushy
Thanks Lord and Jean, I'll put some Tatuajes and AF short stories in the order, they don't have the god of fire churchills. Those Diesel Shorty also sound interesting, might give them a shot too. It will be my first time smoking a 60rg... seems a bit excessive though! Sver
I had the Padron 85 family reserve this summer. It was one of the best cigars i've ever had, i think the tobacco is aged 10 years on the family reserve. They are definitely pricey though. Professor Twain
I had the Padron 85 family reserve this summer. It was one of the best cigars i've ever had, i think the tobacco is aged 10 years on the family reserve. They are definitely pricey though. I agree. This is really an amazing cigar. Padron sells a number of less expensive cigars that are very good. My favorite is the Anniversario 1964 Maduro Principe (or any of the other 1964 Maduros, I happen to like the small size). Another high end cigar that I enjoy is the Fuente Anejo. If you get some of those I advise you to let them sit for a while. Happy hunting.

kuzi16
room 101 Connecticut. Avo Classic or Avo XO Illusione Epernay i find that the most common issue with NC cigars (for me at least) is that they are too strong and they have a tendency to ruin your palate. so i tend to go for mild-medium cigars in the NC world. the above are the ones that, for me, dont have a finish that lasts to the next day. i would still make this a second cigar of the day if more than one is planned, it still may over power a CC.
CaptainQuintero
For me: Illusions cg:4 (natural not maduro) Winston Churchill Lancaster They both stand up very well to Cubans, rich and complex, not nicotine strong either, both medium
rtrimbath
Olivia V Melanio and Alec Bradley Black Market are pretty good. I definitely agree with trying out some Tatuaje and Padron. Herrera Esteli is one of my favorites as well.
tjohn7
Padron '64 Diplomatico Maduro never led me astray. I'd go that route if you're into NCs.

And you're right - they ARE very Cubanesque in flavor, aroma and structure. Thank you guys for that prior info!
parabola66
Liga Privada #9 is probably my favorite NC. Also the Ava Maria Reconquista is probably my second. P.S. it might be a little ill-mannered to mention on this forum, but the Cohiba Edition Diamonte (NC) is pretty nice IMO

Nedule
Careful with the NUB's, good but I got my ass handed to me a few times. I think I've only gotten through one of them. Still have one sitting in my humidor for the past 5 years, I might be ready for another try.
