fabes Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Could be an epiphany or somtehing small. Could be cigar related or not. I thought it could be fun to reflect on the year and see what other folks have learned this past year. Myself, I've learned of the hidden gem that is the PL Montecarlo, the elegance in a 10yr old QdO and countless storage techniques, (some based on science others on wives-tales). I've also learned a great deal about accounting (finishing up a degree) and my propensity to be a selfish ass if not kept in check! So what have you learned?
TiminBC Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I have learned tons about cigars this year and some of it is actually correct. Maybe next year I will learn what part of it is correct. I guess the more important thing I learned and leaned to practice is to give cigars time to adjust after travel. There is always a temptation to smoke something ASAP but it can lead to bad results which are not the fault of the cigar.
airtrade Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 The cheapest source is not the best source! 1
ogus Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 After desperate prayer I discovered the cleanse and diet that changed my life. I was also inspired to learn of unnecessary guilt I foisted on myself and let that go. And also very importantly, better bet hard so Rob doesn't draw to a straight or flush.
rodrigodeanda Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Cigar related, well really everything as I started to smoke cigars around last Christmas so I was an utter ignorant last year hahaha Not cigar related well a lot actually since this is my first year as a married guy (yesterday was our first anniversary), my wife has taught me a whole lot. Also we moved from Mexico to Brasil in April, so I learned portuguese, I didn't speak a word when we arrived here! And related to my profession a bunch! Man this has been a year of changes for me!

Stoyan Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I learned to order cigars from FOH. I learned that I can't stop now... 3
El Presidente Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Less is more (Cigars and other things) Moderation is something you can learn. I am still on training wheels here. You don't have to take on everything. A good woman is indispensable Spend time with your parents. 3
pbibby Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Things I learned: I have way more than I deserve. WAY more. My wife is the greatest person on this earth. Being a father is knowing true love at first sight. I also learned that a good cigar is remedy for almost anything. -Paul 1

parabola66 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I've learned a lot about cigars as I have only been collecting, smoking, and learning for just under a year now. I am new to this forum and am looking forward to learning a lot more about my new hobby and becoming part of the community. This year I was able to finish school, study hard, and get my certifications to build my carreer as a Network Technician and Server Administrator. Focusing on my future, I have learned a lot about myself and realzing the person I want to be. ...I also have a cigar purchasing problem...
Overproof Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 1. This year I learned that Aldi make nappies. They are just as good if not better than Huggies nappies for a fraction of price. You've probably already guessed where the money saved has gone. 2
PigFish Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I have learned that I don't have the memory that I used to have... What was the question again? -LOL Aside from learning, I do a lot of reaffirming! I have a lot of great friends on this site, old and new. Cheers mates! -P 1
ha1fway Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 No matter how much space you have, you need more space. I more or less learn this every year. 1
AbuAmelia Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Oh wow... I think all of 2014 was a learning year for me. I was 40 years old mostly all of 2014 so I hit a milestone in my life. When I look at 2014, it seems it was a very educational year for me. Can't think of another year that I learned this much. In the cigar world, specifically CC's I learned a whole lot. More importantly, trust very few. 1
Guyman1966 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 To make today a bit better then yesterday and to work and make tomorrow better then today. Life is never perfect, but a work in progress. 1
... Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 So, so much about cigars, the good life and anything about Cuba
jv0099 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I know that I've learned that I liked cigars again. I had a pretty nasty back injury and just didn't do a lot of anything for about 18 months. I got it fixed and I've started to enjoy life again -- be more social. I lost 25 lbs and started swimming again and cigars came back in to focus. Now this next year's new years resolution is to drink more wine! 2
Tallman Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I learned that the second knee replacement is NOT easier than the first.
ChefBoyRG54 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 That I have a serious problem... In seriousness I picked up this late thus year from a botl, but to invest in better cigars for the long haul. I look at some sticks I have that I know will be sitting there in five years and will not have improved much if at all. Invest in some better sticks now, reap rewards later...Now to not smoke all the good ones :-)
aushy Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Something I learned the other day is don't smoke a cigar when you have burned your tongue on soup the night before. It was terrible! 1
