Edmundo Dante 109 review

Decided to smoke this cigar in celebration of winning my fraternity's presidential election. I had a great night and a great cigar.

Opening: the pre light draw was fabulous. Lots of dark rich flavors, but also a sweetness. I have smoked quite a few ED54 and I could tell these were of the same DNA. Upon lighting the cigar it was a tad bitter. I think this was because I used a torch and got it to hot. I am still trying to get use to my new dupont.

First third: after the initial bitterness, there was tons of cocoa and short bread. The smoke that was pouring our of the cigar was thick and almost had and yellow tint to it. The smell of it was fabulous as well. The ash held tight, but when it fell, the flavor profile switched to an armenian sweet bread that my mother bakes. It was truly remarkable.

The second third had more coffee nights and a lot of sweetness as well. The best way to describe it was that it tasted exactly like an Ed54. I'm sorry if that is not a good descriptor, but there really wasn't much difference in the two cigars through the second third.

Final third: the intensity picked up, and this is where this cigar really started to shine. The armenian sweet bread dunked in coffee and dusted in cocoa was mesmerizing.

In conclusion: the construction was fabulous, as it should be on a regional of this caliber. My only problem with it was that it wasn't twice as good as the Ed54. I give this a 97 and the 54 a 96. One point is not worth twice the money. While a great cigar, I probably won't track any more down unless I can get them for a song.

Oh, I won't even lie, of course it did. It helps quite well for rush events as well. The other fraternities get lousy Honduran Seconds. I think I bought a couple boxes of SC EP to pass out.
