Seleccion - Robustos?

Hi all

Just a quick question about this 5 pack:

Was thinking about ordering a box of these just to try the monte robusto as I am currently on a mission to try every monte available.

Some quick googling revealed that because of the case its packaged in, the cigars all taste and smell like cedar. Considering this a a 2003/4 release, would they just be rotten cedar sticks by now. I'm guessing that since they are still for sale 10 years later they weren't that popular?

They were/are produced later than 2004 as well. Unfortunately, my 2008s still tasted a lot like cedar.

Cuban pricing for these are abhorent. Let alone outside value...

They are released every year as well as the "selection piramides". At least I was told so in my local LCDH.

I bought them In 2004,The Piramides also, In Havana , I kept them for years and then smoked them. All I can tell you

Is, don't buy them. They are not that great and for the most part,they have a strong cedar taste & smell .

The would be a cool "collection" item, if you did not intend on smoking them. However, from what I've seen and heard they all taste like you've said. Cedar, cedar and more cedar!

It was years back (10?) but I remember really enjoying the box of each I had, smoked them fairly soon after buying though, and I like cedar

Bought a few boxes in Cuba in 2011. They were great, but as I bought them on the partagas factory and smoked them within first few months I guess they didnt spend long time in the box

Bought both these and the Pyramides selection for the novelty when they first came out.

As I smoked them all within just a few months I don't believe the cedar was overwhelming, though it was definitely there.

Imagine it would be a bit overwhelming now after 10 years.

I bought a box of 2010 release in 2011, but immediately transferred the cigars in my desktop humidor (because of the cedar). 

I am now debating whether to smoke them this Summer or not.  Never had a Monte robusto: how is it?

In 15 years of being aware of these I can't say I've ever heard good things about either the Robustos or the Piramides. Likey standard PSD4, CoRo, Epi 2, RyJ SC and Monte Master but the older Monte Robustos, RyJ Robustos and HU Robustos never received any high praise AFAIK. 

And the price makes it just bad.

I would agree it's probably relegated to gifting, and not to someone who smokes a lot of CCs. 

Would love to see a Seleccion Lonsdales however...?
