After nearly a week of having this thread up, the results are not all that surprising. I was expecting to see RASS, PSD4, HDM Epi 2, and CoRo taking the top spots. I am surprised that JL Seleccion No. 2 didn't fare better, but a larger sample size may boost its numbers.

Thanks for the replies!

When a JL2 is really on there are, in my opinion, few that can match it.

My favorites have always been the PSD4 and RASS but my recent purchases of the HdM and JL have turned out quite nicely as well.

When they are at the top of their game, CoRo are amazing. But they aren't, so aged RASS and the 2007 PL robustos do very well by me

I agree with 72.5% of these remarks.

Which is why I was surprised it wasn't ranked more favorably ok.gif

I want to change my mind! I voted HDM Epi 2, but since I voted I've found a new favourite. Even though it's technically not a robusto, my new love is the Upmann Connie no 1. The box I have just started on is a FEB12 box, so only 2.5 years old, but the 4 I have had have all been spot on. They've all burned really well and have smoked beautifully. I've smoked each one down to the nub which is a good sign normally where I'm concerned!

I regularly smoke the Upmann PC, and love them, but am finding the Connie 1's with a different taste profile. Can't put my finger on what it is, but it doesn't hit me with the biscuity taste the PC does. I think there's a vanilla something-or-other in there!

Anyway tjohn7, I'd recommend trying one if you haven't already!

I'll definitely give them a shot. Have one sitting in the humidor right now. Gonna let it rest a bit more then I'll test it out.

Smoked a JL2 this weekend. Coffee, vanilla and black cherry. Very, very enjoyable. I still don't like the size though. A box of Jl1 may be on my buying horizon soon.

For the longest time I've been a Rass man. The last couple of cabs of JL No. 2 have me really questioning that train of thought. We'll see though its still early in the game for me.

Strange. I was the same way until a box of PL Montecarlos changed all of that this summer.

I keep reading about these. I think I'm going to have to pull the trigger on a box. For the price you can't go wrong.

They've got the rustic nature that I seem to prefer (as exemplified by RASS), but the size also allows a great deal of finesse if you've got the patience and attention span.

Never thought I'd go ga-ga for a cig under 40 RG, but love.gif

From my limited experience, I voted for the HdM #2 > HU Connie #1. Haven't had enough of the rest for a good call although I enjoyed the one BRC and PSD4 that I had.

JLS2 has not let me down and I have enjoyed everyone. Working on my 3rd box in a year while I have another in reserve. I got started on these by listening to the host...

had another fresh 14 rass and it was very good, still could benefit from age but damn

Wow! Are RASS actually smoking well young these days?

Posted

as a young rass hater i must say they are smoking pretty well, this box is a 14 and last few in past few days are noticeably better than a month ago

i specifically got this box to smoke and it's a decision i do not regret so far, color me surprised

I hardly ever reach for a robusto, but every time I smoke a PSD 4 (generally not a Partagas fan, sacrilege to many of you) I really enjoy it more than I expect. I prefer a thinner ring gauge.

I'll break my post cherry on this one and say that although I love a few of these robustos, I have more and smoke more Upmann connie 1's than any other cigar in this vitola.
