I've not had an esp 1 oddly enough nor do I like montecristo much but the monte 2 from recent production was the best mc I've ever had. The esp 2 is pretty good, petit edmundo is alright, the 5 was good and the captain quintero ones I don't have experience with. If I could get monte 2s like the one mitchell gave me I would actually buy them.

I have been turned off to MC because of a couple very mediocre boxes of No.4 so I haven't smoked too many different vitolas from them. With that said, I do like, not love, the Esp. No. 2 and the No.5.

Well there are A few Monte's I have'nt smoked but I really dig the #4 and #2 when there on,it just depends on whats go'n on as to which one I smoke!

the especiale and the especiale#2 are a level above ALL other montys ... i would go #2 then the especiale .

by the way ... there is no such thing as an " especiales #1 " .

(To my taste) Most have a bitterness and vanilla tone

#2 when on has a deeper mocha

#4 has the bold tobacco with a balance of the above flavors

Had more good #4 than all the rest

To me the A is the best, but if it's being cut then I'm gonna have to sell some stock and buy a bunch of boxes. Haven't seen it around too much lately, and considering the price point I'm not surprised.

Looking at my humi, it appears that Monte is my favorite Marca

Esp 2 > Esp 1 > A > 2 > 1,3,4,5 but they are all very good smokes

For me it would be PE and a tie for the 2 and 4, but I only have HQ boxes and all are very good. I have never smoked the A nor the Esp, I have two two As that I will try soon and the esp is definitely on the buy list.

The number 2 with a boatload of time usually turns into something magnificent. But if you want good young sticks. The esp. No. 1 is always excellent.
