I really don't like either that the whole thread was deleted. I myself always instead prefer to see a moderator post a comment explaining why it's being done, but then to simply lock the thread. I find that if individual offending posts start getting deleted, everything gets all jumbled up and missed. But then if a whole thread is deleted, unfortunately, it leads to some people's actions and attitudes being "lost in the shadows" so to speak, and something that the vast majority of members are unaware of. Sometimes that's a good thing, but not with these types of posts, IMO. However, this is all just my opinion and I'm not management here - they do a damn good job considering all that's on their plate, and this forum has some of the best moderation around, on many forum types.

But I think the big issue is the proxy posting, in the nature it was done, and with what was posted. Very VERY uncouth and uncalled for.

It is my instruction to Mods to not edit . Delete. Because they are bloody nice guys they often do it anyway.

The reason for my edict (as an apparent cigar lord elitist scum) is that once some members know that mods will edit, they play the grey.

Screw that. You all know how to behave and what is expected. I want to give mods no more work.

Learn how to structure a post in that it carries your thoughts /enlightens without attack. None of us are blameless from time to time but if a thread disappears, there is a reason. Mods are not here to make a digital paper mache of a thread so it looks pretty and meets everyone's sensibilities. Mods are real people with real jobs and families.

As for You Tube vids by all all and sundry. Congratulations! I sincerely respect your passion and dedication. The cigar world needs more of you. However, once you are out there you are perceived as fair game by many. "Water off a ducks back" is the best way to play it. It doesn't matter whether you are Suckling, CA editors, Joe, and the myriad of others (including myself), you will be scattergunned from time to time. Such is life. hold your line, your beliefs, question them when you feel they need to be questioned. Outside of that, don't give a rat's arse.

I have this rather odd practice of making up names for people. Barn names I call them. Of course I even do it for myself, hence Piggy, the Pig, the Pinko Pig… etc.

You for example are simply referred to as Nut… Not everyone thinks well of my "barn" names so I don't always share them. It depends on their humor and understanding of the affectionate intent.

I am somewhat dyslexic. It causes me to have to reread a lot, to make sure I get the words right. I just see NUT, in CanuckSARTech. I see Magpie, in Jeremy's moniker. Sometimes it is the first thing I see…

The First Lady just came to me when Rob chose El Presidente. No real stretch of the imagination there, but it fits! It was one of Robs hunting stories that inspired me to start calling him Bwana. It goes back to '05 or maybe earlier than that… I don't remember now.

Of course, some are not affectionate at all… Not all that original either! -LOL
