Popular Post BehikeLover2 Posted September 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 18, 2014 So in 2012 I decided that I need a real humidor.Something that will relieve my boxes from the airtight containers where they have been previously kept.I got an offer from a passionate cabinetmaker located in stuttgart (schwaben-humidor.de).The Humidor is made from solid sapeli mahagoni wood, using real cedar wasnt an option because it can smell real heavy sometimes. My goal was a humidor that is almost airtight with a passive humidification (turned out I don't really need that much humidification since the solid wood is a pretty good buffer) for long term ageing. I placed the humidor in my cellar where the temperature is kind of stable (14-22°C/57-72°F) and so is the humidity, between 65 and 69%. Since its all wood the humidor reacts very well to differences of humidity and acts as a buffer.I added a few things over the time like a fan for air circulation, some LED lights with a switch connected to the door and 2 trays for singles. If you think that is big think again, in 2014 it is full and I need to store in lock&lock boxes again..sight, its able to contain around 150 boxes. enjoy, cheers. 29

Thanks for sharing. As it was in the build I already collected for a few years so I had a good amount of boxes to decoraate it
leftimatic Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Nice piece for sure. Nice collection. Thanks for the pics they are way easier to digest than an 8 page play by play.
Ryan Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 That's a fantastic piece of work. Well done. Great pictures too. Good choice of wood with the Sapele.
CaptainQuintero Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Gorgeous, it's lovely to know that you've got something that will last you out too, family heirloom style
PigFish Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Fantastic, and beautiful creation… Thanks for sharing. While my passion is for these sterile and highly controlled humidors, there is something about these lovely wooden creations that just really choke me up when I see them… Beautiful, just beautiful work!!! -Piggy 1
Optic101 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Very nice project and very nice collection !
CanuckSARTech Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Absolutely stellar. Great step-by-step progression to the pictures as well. A shame it's full and you're back to your old storage method again, LOL , but this is a damn nice and gorgeously-laid-out cabinet. Thanks ever so much for sharing!!!
srbbones Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I salute you, sir www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyf059psVew
tmac77 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 very nice. looks like you might need to build another one soon.
BehikeLover2 Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Thanks guys. Its also a very good anti theft systems because this thing weights a ton Iam actually thinking about selling it and getting a new one built that is bigger and merges a few mistakes that I made with this one (shelvs that slide out for exampl would be nice). Thinking about 2,5x the size... As you said this is a furniture for a lifetime and longer.
FredClever Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Very nice thing. I love that it's handmade and you actually have pics from the production. Although... I don't see enough Behikes in there! ;-)

Blippio Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 This is awesome! I love Sapele (and also your Festool sander!)... very well done! - The 11th pic down, is that aluminum angle you used to lock the carcass together (to prevent movement from moisture?) - Also, do you have any sort of humidification device in this? Your last pic is hilarious... that thing is STUFFED! 1

It keeps the humidity very good.
