PigFish Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 It's really a shame you discount some great cigars ie robustos. I get into a bad habit of generalization sometimes. Robustos are just not my favorite cigars. I have never hit it off with RASS, or the CoRo for example. It does not mean that there are not good ones, or that people that like them have inferior tastes! While I happen to like the JL2 and a Boli RC now and again as well as a couple of H-4'; these are just my tastes! Time and time again, I get better taste performance from a marevas over that of a robusto. The comment comes from my experience and it is a value judgement based on my taste and reflects my preference for mid ring cigars over that of wider body cigars. Hands down, I will generally select a PC or a coronas over a robusto. I am always happy to smoke a great cigar, forgive the generalization! Cheers -Piggy 1
1LegLance Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I went through a fewphases like this.... the first was in 2002 when I became FED UP with Habanos SA & Altdis and all the Milleniums, LE's and such...and that was before you had all the craziness we have now. I looked in my 19cu ft upright freezer-a-dor and reaized I hardy had anything to smoke on a regular Tues...either smoke A was too special, or smoke B needed a few years or smoke C was one I had not cracked the box on yet...blah blah. So I called some buddies and we just started enjoying the sticks. Sure many should have been aged a few more years but I was tired of paying more money for these cigars while my tried and true regular sticks suffered. The second phase was during Nursing School when I was only working part time and had to smoke out of my stash...see above and what ever super cheap deal I could find. Lots of Jose Piedras (which I still love) and lots of waiting for vendor deals. The third phase was again based on protest of all the super special high priced Habanos stuff and I just ordered sticks that were on the dc list...and kept it simple. Currently I am having a blast thanks to some co-workers who are brand new to the world of Habanos or cigars in general. This had led me to go back and revisit Marcas I had previously tried and not liked....VR's, SCdlH and such. Also it has me going back to sticks I had not smoked in years like Cazadores and being amazed at how they are not what they used to be at all. Ride the waves and enjoy the hobby.
