ErikB Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Time is a jet plane and things change. I have decided to no longer buy any cigars but smoke my way through my remaining stash.. Then when I'm running out I'll start buying again, stuff I feel like smoking there and then. It actually feels liberating not to think about maintaining the collection and it's very interesting to just light up those smokes that were being kept for that elusive special moment. Life is just too short, you know. Mind you, I'll probably hang on to some very special sticks anyway. 3
garbandz Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 But.........every time you smoke one you are running out....... good luck with your resolution, stay away from cigar sales and sites...... 2
Guest gerlinan Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 You have much more willpower than I sir!
Mckucci Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I cant bring myself to do that.... I have an addiction, I smoke a single cigar and I feel obligated to replace it with a box lol. I guess I like collecting, I definitely buy more then I smoke. 3
jerryg05495 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I wish I could be rational about it purchases, but not even close. Good luck.
forgop Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 At my current rate, I will have cigars that have 25+ years on them for stuff I've bought this year. Guess I better step up my game. LOL
Popular Post LGC Posted September 17, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 17, 2014 Life, priorities, and interests change. I still love smoking cigars, but no longer chase anything. I average 1-2 a week at the most, so running out anytime soon is not a concern. I haven't bought for a number of years now. It's nice to be content with your stock and not obsess about it. 5
cigardude Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I enjoy purchasing nearly as much as smoking 1
riazp Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Thats exactly what i've been doing...smoking through my stash, have not bought any cigars in a couple of years other than my last trip to havana in nov 2013. at the rate that I smoke i have cigars to last me a couple of years easy.
... Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I guess I will probably slow down with the buying aspect of things and simply rotate the collection, smoking everything at its prime and only replacing the empty boxes as I go. However, my mind is still set on expansion for now...
leftimatic Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Good on yah. I am thinking of the exact same thing. Just a few more boxes to get me through the lean times. Really I don't have a whole lot as is. So curbing the buying should be easy right? Besides I just ordered up a couple pipes and some tobacco...... and so it goes.
Popular Post Maplepie Posted September 17, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 17, 2014 Good luck mate... Seriously. I tried that... once. twas a dark 5 hours for me. Sent by the Enigma on BlackBerry. 5
... Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Indeed. The good old 'Just one last box and I shall be golden' is ripe with denial... That last box hasn't landed yet that another last box captivates us
BehikeLover2 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 the first hours are hard. you are sweating and your hands are shaking....beware. 1
Lotusguy Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I am somewhere in-between - I buy at about the same rate as I smoke these days (which has slowed down a fair amount). This is being made MUCH easier by HSAs recent size and price policy I have to admit, there have been moments lately where I seriously considered selling all my HTF and rare stock and just smoke my cheap regular production sticks... 2
... Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I have to admit, there have been moments lately where I seriously considered selling all my HTF and rare stock and just smoke my cheap regular production sticks... I make damn sure I don't buy anything I wouldn't be comfortable to just put flame to any day of the week. Some cigars I do age to enjoy them at their best but I try and steer clear of rare, special released or discontinued cigars. It is also a way to ensure expectations are kept in check and relaxation/simple pleasure is put to the forefront of the smoking experience
ramon_cojones Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 If you don't periodically buy anything then you don't have anything aged to smoke once you run out. I pretty much only buy regular production to age which @hiroshiro laughs at me but I quite enjoy the process and result while other people love collecting REs and LEs. LIke lotusguy said HSA has saved me a lot of money by introducing a vast quantity of sticks over 50rg so my wallet sends out a heartfelt thanks to them. I'm just not interested in anything that is a chore to smoke.
cigaraholic Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Erik, I don't know what you put in your coffee but please send me some! Already thinking I might have enough smokes to last me and I should cool it for a while..... But I am a PL lover, so a few Picadores boxes are a must. And the Dips coming from Rob, the Winnie's for my birthday...... HELP! 2
... Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 x2 on the Picadores. I will buy a box irregardlessly of the reviews
Habsfan67 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 It's definitely a disease. Every time I take one out, I get this urge to add more.
CUBANO Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I have more cigars than I can smoke in my lifetime, but I can't stop from buying. Especially when Rob has those 12:12 sales
oliverdst Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 To me the rush of a great buying is amazing. Endorphine and stuff. I try to be rational and not buy several boxes of the same cigar/year/batch. I am trying not to be a collector because in Brazil it would be hard to sell if one day I stop smoking (or dye). 1
PigFish Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 When Tabacuba puts Coronas back on the menu, say about $160 a box, I will be a buyer again. Until then, I can wait them out with relative comfort. I have not actively bought since 2008… Smokers mature, I am sure I am in a stage. I won't know if it is terminal until they find me face down in an ashtray…! -Piggy 1
Maplepie Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Until then, I can wait them out with relative comfort. I have not actively bought since 2008… Road trip through Iberian Peninsula, Ray?! SHOPPIIIIIIIING Sent by the Enigma on BlackBerry.
dogdays Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 As much as I love Cuban cigars and all good cigars Cuban or not , they are a bunch of levees roll up to be smoked and enjoyed. that's all, the right time to smoke a cigar is right now , life is to short ....
