Appearance:

Rustic and attractive wrapper, no significant veins to speak of.

Colorado color and muted sheen, quite hard to explain

Construction:

Firm but not hard to the touch, has a silky wrapper touch

Cold draw:

Ceder and pepper

First third:

toasted the foot and at first draw I get salty nuttiness.

Also detect a slight mocha flavor, cant find any pepper as I had on the cold draw.

Smoke volume is good, very heavy smoke.

The cigar has evolved quite alot from last year, I had a couple from this my second to last box and it seems now is the time to pounce and leave the last box to mature 2-3 more years but no more.

Second third:

Not much in evolution, still salty peanut flavor and very slight mocha, really loving this flavor profile, reminds me of way I died a little when this one got axed.

the burn is even and no touch ups necessary

Moving a bit more towards the end of the second third I get cocoa mixed with a sprinkle of cinnamon, damn I am having a good day today.

Last third:

Cocoa, cinnamon, with an after taste of old leather, at least that what comes to mind, never actually tried smoking or eating leather.

The cigar burns completely even, and the second to last third make it a perfect cigar.

Will need burn treatment to fingers when this one is over.

Rating:

First third 93

Second and last third 95-6

Will have another one in a month and if this is what I can expect will finish the 10 cigars in the box by years end.

Nice review - good stick, missed......

Habanos really did a number on the Diplomatico brand, it is a travesty, especially considering that Monte 4 are far from honest nowadays.

The only good box of Monte 4 came from our host here and as he will attest, it is an occasion to find them.

Sorry about the lack of pictures, I smoked it never thinking of reviewing it, did it for my own sake so I know where this box stands and if I should start to burn through it, then read about the raffle and posted my notes in long hand.
