Where do you smoke in the cold months?

too cold = not fun. not fun = no reason to smoke. so in the winter it's time to visit casinos, cigar bars, or go on vacation

Nope, it's just that Schwarzwälder Kirschwasser is so much tastier than Gin(to me anyway).

I have a wood stove in the basement that i never use but it is still connected to the chimney. In the winter a put an ashtray in the wood stove and put my cigar in it, the draft from the chimney pulls the smoke out of the house. It's not the best setup and not really comfortable but it works very well at making sure there is no smell in the house.

Sometimes it gets down to 22C here... I almost think about putting on a jacket. Those days are tough.

Toronto is a city I want to visit, but only in the summer. Visited my brother a few years ago in Minnesota in January and almost froze to death. LOL

As to the question of the thread, up until last year, I didn't smoke anywhere in the winter. Unless I was in Cuba during the November-February timeline, or had the chance to have a rum & cigars night with my neighbour in his hot tub, I just totally abstained during those winter months here. Honestly, over our Canadian winters, I'd only smoke literally about 1 to 3 cigars in total during that whole 4 or 5 month timeline.

But, last winter, and finishing it up this fall, I've finished my attached garage (flooring, surround sound, signage, beer fridge, decent bar, heavy-duty ventilation, and kick-ass 50k BTU plumbed-in forced-air heater). That way, I have a fully functional and warm & cosy "man cave"-style garage for the winter months. That, and as of this summer, my wife got her wish for a hot tub in the backyard, so I'm all set moving forward from this winter onwards.

Still need to do a thread on finishing off that garage. Very happy. Last thing relatively is the insulated garage door, which is going in within another month or so.

Because some of us have kids and other family members who aren't into sucking in second hand smoke thats billowing around the room. Also I doubt the house smells very great a day after a few cigars. My guess anyways. although I would love to sit in my living room in the warmth and have my cigar in complete comfort!

That sounds awesome, I would love to see that thread, hopefully you get a chance to do it sometime.

personally ... i love the smell of stale cigar smoke(try it you might like it) ... smells like success .

Don't get me wrong I would love sitting in my club chair with my cigar and bourbon in the cold months watching hockey! But....I l don't think I'll win that battle with my wife and daughter though haha

There's usually around 20-30 days a year where it gets to cold/windy to sit out on the deck with the propane heater running.

When it does, or when the mood strikes, I'll enjoy a cigar in my basement man cave.

Occasionally in the upstairs family room or even dining room after a particularly sumptuous repast.

My wife fires up the Lampe Berger after, which helps to eliminate the smoke odor.

Thanks for mentioning the Lampe, never heard of it. But seems like something to look into. Good for three things looks nice (wife loves that) , smells nice (wife loves that) eliminates smoke odors and other cooking smells (wife loves that). Which makes me a happy man. lol

Live in the South so decent temps to smoke in the winter...mostly. Planning on building covered structure onto the back of our house to include some wind blocks, flat screen TV, and bar. Inside smoking is not an option.

Ah, another winter coming up. The last couple have been long and cold and sure don't look forward to this one neither. So it looks like it's back to the B&M for me but i hate going there because I have to buy a cheap NC that I'm not even going to smoke just to have my own sticks. I usually save those and give them out at parties.

I smoke in the same place as summer - the garden. I just enjoy a smaller cigar instead

I find crisp cold can be quite nice to be outside in, the bigger problem is the rain (which we get a lot of!)

Quite a few places to smoke indoors in and around Montreal. I know of 10 cigar lounges or bars but there are probably others as well. Some allow you to bring your own sticks and others either charge a cutting fee or you have to buy a stick from them. Most of the time however, I'll smoke in my garage which is heated.

I typically smoke indoors in the winter.... Throughout the summer months, I smoke outside on my patio. However once the snow hits, I move it inside... I use to have a hot tub which was ideal... Each night I'd sit out there and smoke. However now I just sit on the couch in my living room...

I purchased two Rabbit Air units. They actually work very well!!!! While you're smoking, it does not clear the smoke from the room... I've been sitting there thinking "oh god, this is going to be bad" Its the day after you really start to notice!

The smell begins to fade away, and two days later it's 100% back to normal. (my in laws, who hate the smell of smoke have come over within 2 days of me smoking in there, and said they could not smell anything)

Now, this wouldn't be ideal if you were smoking every day. In the winter months when I smoke inside, its usually only one or two times a week... I also choose smaller vitolas, such as: Trinidad - Reyes, Cohiba Secretos and H.uppman Half Coronas... If I'm having my morning espresso, sometimes I'll just stand outside with a RyJ / Cohiba club.
