soutso Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Hi, I'd just like to ask what the definition of buying blind is. I interpret it as buying off the internet from a vendor you haven't bought from before? If I buy from *****int am I 'buying blind'? I assume that buying from *****int I will receive at the very worst, a PE box. Surely that's not buying blind? Cheers
Lasabar Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 It usually means you buy the cigars without looking at them. Rob prides himself on rating his cigars so you KNOW you get good ones and not duds. For example the Monte No. 2 is one most say it's hard to buy blind for there are less than stellar batches and you would NEED to see them before you buy them. But Rob does this for us and we don't have to worry! You would be buying blind by just buying on *****INT but most agree that Rob's stock is usually better than the rest
bradbrennan Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I think there maybe another topic on this if you search or maybe it was just in the shout box. Buying blind would also mean sealed boxes that the seller hasnt looked at. Everything on foh is openned then inspected culling out any problem boxes
Diamondog Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Buying blind is buying a cigar you have never tried....buying based on reviews etc..for example i once bought a box of trini robo extras without ever smoking one... 1
Smallclub Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Buying blind is buying a cigar you have never tried....buying based on reviews etc..for example i once bought a box of trini robo extras without ever smoking one... This is absolutely not the accepted definition on this forum. When Rob says "buying blind" it has nothing to do with the customer's familiarity with said cigar… 1
mk05 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Buying blind is when I get drunk and make an order at one of the vendor I use. Then a couple weeks later, I receive a surprise. 4

That is not my definition of buying blind but I will agree using Rob's terminology this holds true.
soutso Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Ok thanks. So officially buying blind means the following: 1.You get really really drunk 2. You order a cigar you've never tried before that you saw in a review 3. from a sealed box that Rob has never opened 4. from the *****int site Many many thanks!
santela Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I'm curious, if I buy directly from the *****INT site, am I guarantees at least a PE box? Does our host inspect every single box?
soutso Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Santela, I assume that's the case because the boxes you buy from *****int arrive having been previously opened. I again assume that they have been opened for inspection therefore must have passed a quality test. Quality being PE and up

mk05 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 No, you misunderstand. Buying blind means that you get drunk, go on your vendor's website, literally put blindfolds on, and click away until you arrive at the checkout page.

Ordering from any vendor sight unseen (probably #1)
JHands Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 To me buying blind means buying a stick that has quality control issues from a vendor that doesn't hand pick their stock. Here at FOH, you are all but guaranteed that you will get a good box. There are no guarantees though. Rob hand picks everything he stocks and rejects plugged and/or ugly sticks, so you are never buying "blind". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
sw15825 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 My definition.s are 1. Buying legally blind = You are drunk and buy from a vendor you have never used before. 2. Buying with less than 20/20 vision u are buzzed and heard good things about the vendor. 3. You only need glasses for reading. You havn't had anything to drink. and got some good boxes before from the vendor in the past. 4. Your vision is fine. You always recieve boxes that stun u when u open them. So order again. So if your vision is less than 20/20, have your trusted merchant look at and send u a great box. Seriously, just use trusted merchants who send great stock. Rob doesn't send crap, period!
BonVivant Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 One knows the code + one takes the chance = buying sober, in my book
RijkdeGooier Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Buying without having been able to verify the quality of the goods, is IMO, buying blind. This is were a trusted vendor is of the utmost importance and adds tremendous value for his clients.
Franko Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Buying blind is when I get drunk and make an order at one of the vendor I use. Then a couple weeks later, I receive a surprise. Lol. U guys r funny lol
