Lotusguy Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Why sad? Now you'll be able to get shitty coffee together with a whopper 4
Edwhatever Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Lol, very funny. For those who don't know. Tim Hortons is one of the last standing Canadian companies that hasn't been bought out by an American company. The Hudson's bay company is no longer Canadian, Future Shop...not Timmies?? Hmm, what else can we add to the list? 1
Squarehead Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I couldn't care less as I don't go to either. 1
ebhead Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 not really sad...hopefully BK can elevate Timmies to their low standards. E 3
godpheonix Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 hate Tim's coffee so really don't care what happens to it!
rckymtn22 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 BK is not the first american company to own Tim Hortons, Wendys used to own TH a few years ago.
TiminBC Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Wendy's owned them for awhile and sold them, 15 years ago I started drinking coffee black and I have not been a fan since. My nephew also worked there for a short awhile. They slowly replaced most of the Canadian workers in his store with temporary foreign workers. Their food menu had some decent lunch items some times back but the size and quality seemed to go down hill fast. I think I read Burger King is controlled by a Brazilian company. One of the major benefits for BK is lower taxes as a result of moving to Canada :} For cheap black coffee I enjoy Mc Donald's coffee better.
Bunner Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 It's sad but true. The sale of the Hudson's bay company was more sad i believe. A company that existed before the country sold off. but meh.. what is one to do. Canada as it seems has barely any patriotism IMO.... (key word opinion). Being a 3rd gen Canadian its sad.
Pilsner14 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Yup.....not much of a Timmies drinker but as a Canadian Institution its sad to see......
Ryan Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 If Burger King are doing this to move their tax base to Canada from the US, that would mean more tax revenue for Canada. That would be a good thing, wouldn't it? 2
mash Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Their coffee is terrible, and since they started to par-bake their donuts, they're not much better. I'm not sure they screwed the family. The story as I understand it is his wife sold the chain for 500K, which was obviously a huge mistake in retrospect. She then tried to sue the buyer, saying they had taken advantage of her because she had a drinking problem. She spent the majority of what she got for sale fighting this legal battle, which she lost.
SaintLuis Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Canada's just the 51st state anyways. Only reason they're not official, is because it's cheaper to buy them than to invade. Kidding aside, Canada's about to get a bunch more tax revenue, so hard to see any Canucks complaining. It's not like TH was a family business or anything. It's a pretty big corporation.
reghax Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Add me to the list that can't stand Tim's coffee. Not sure why it is so popular.
Edwhatever Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Tim Horton's coffee sucks, I get that. It's their own damn fault. What's left thats Canadian, and worth our sentiment?
jedipastor Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Burger King isn't an American company, even though there are a lot of BKs in the US. They used to be owned by Grand Met, a UK company. Not sure who owns them right now, but it's not a US corp.
Popular Post ptrthgr8 Posted August 29, 2014 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2014 What's left thats Canadian, and worth our sentiment? The Tragically Hip!!!!!! 5
Maplepie Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Wait - there's still Lululemon, right? Yes, yes, and YES! Sent by the Enigma on BlackBerry.
leftimatic Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I usually turn down Timmy Ho's even if its free. Burger King is no better. They make a nice couple.
leftimatic Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 What's left thats Canadian, and worth our sentiment? Viberg Boots, Lee Valley Tools, Adria Saws, Brigham Pipes, Stompin' Tom and the Merville Gas Station! Hallelujah!!
imangelo Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Honestly, it seems like they already have been taken over by Burger King with their identity crisis for the last few years. Lasagna and grilled cheese? Not at Tim Hortons. They've been going down hill for YEARS.
TheLiquidGator Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Burger King isn't an American company, even though there are a lot of BKs in the US. They used to be owned by Grand Met, a UK company. Not sure who owns them right now, but it's not a US corp. They are owned by a Brazilian private equity company.
