Today had some nice warm weather with a slight breeze. Probably one of the last summer days where a DC seems just fit especially after work.

I pulled out a stick that had been sitting in my herfador over night; one i meant to smoke yesterday but didnt because there wasn't ample time.

The wrapper on the cigar looked on colorado claro side, silky smooth, with one slightly visible vein. The construction was perfect IMO.

I used a Punch and it revealed a good draw, suprisingly open for a small cut which i prefer as usually I find with tight rolled cigars a punch is too resistant.

Smell on the wrapper - light sweet tobacco

Cold draw - dusty old cedar, with a faint hint of sweetness

Upon lighting - a non agressive wood burn aroma that is soft on the nasal inhale

First lighting notes gave way to flavours similar to the cold draw, woody, smoke is creamy, with a mild med body and light on the palate.

About an inch in - Startin to get some tangy light citrus notes and nice sweet bready notes on the finish

End of first third - Body is starting to build and the sweetness starts to get a bit darker with grassiness on the finish.

2nd third had to re light; i'm really getting a strong nuttieness, not unlike a fresh cracked walnut

Its starts to settleinto a nice sweet faint caramel nuttiness with grassy notes again on the finish

The last third, the nuttiness gets toasty with the sweet notes becoming a bit more prominent and darker.

In the final parts of the burn i got a bit of that youthful bitter tannin that a good purge fixed.

As i nubbed it, i got mainly sweet bitter nuttiness that was enjoyable to the last puff.

Smoking time was 2hrs and 20mins.

Have been enjoying the 2012 Punch DC immensely. Haven't had a chance to try any 2013 yet except for the Punch Punch. The DC is a very different flavor profile with mostly the dark molasses in common with the Punch Punch.

Thanks much appreciated. I can see now how the dark sweetness i was getting in the latter half might just be the same dark molasses you're experiencing. I've only ever had one Punch Punch so far, and that was great. I'll need to try more to see if i can make the comparison.

Sounds like I need to give these a try. I smoked a Punch DC last year (not sure of the date) and enjoyed it. But for some reason I just never really get around to smoking DC's cigars even though I like the size.

Thanks for the feedback. Smoked a 13' Punch DC before I picked up a box while in Cuba and honestly i'm pretty much the same with not enough time to smoke a whole DC in general...with the exception of the last few months of great weather it has made it easy to kick back and smoke for 2hrs and 30 mins apprx. I would say IMO it would be the vitola most easily aged for me based on how infrequently id smoke one. That and any of the NC's i've got left in my Humi. I smoked a Punch DC the other night actually and it was fantastic like this one was.

Great review! DC is my favourite vitola and I'm almost halfway through my '12 box, with every stick (except one rolled too tight) being awesome, sweetish and tasty. Definitely one to try and keep in stock

Thanks guys much appreciated. I agree with the certain sweetness it has about it and how it develops to darker rich even sweeter notes past half way. Im kind of glad colder weather is looming so i can lay of the last half of my box as summer really is the only time i can sit and enjoy one.

My favorite DC. So many times the HDM and Lusitanias get all the press but I have always had really great consistent Punch DCs. It says long fishing trip and no bathing for a week.
