Large215 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Just wondering how the members of FOH feel about fuente fuente opus x and the pricing and what sizes Thanks everyone
Habana Mike Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Used to be a big FFOX fan years ago. XXX, PL, RdC, FF were my go to vitolas. Don't touch them much anymore as they tend to overwhelm a more refined palate unless well aged. Pricing seemed high but nothing compared to the recent Habanos LE/RE releases.... 1
earthson Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Always thought pricing was a little too high for what you got - I've bought from reputable B&Ms and have always been left underwhelmed - even with aged stock. Fuente Anejos, however, are always sitting around my humidors - I'm jazzed for the 44 RG figurado they're set to release next month.
bradbrennan Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 There are a few similar topics here, but I haven't seen a new one lately, be interesting to hear some new thoughts on it. I've enjoyed several, but I've been reaching for Partagas and Bolivar over them. Even at MSRP they are priced high in my opinion. My favorite is the XXX. I have quite a few I'd trade!
polarbear Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I like em, but for the same money you could have Cohibas (different animal entirely, but they cost about the same and both take 5 years to even out) I can see the apeal of them if you dont have easy access to Cuban Cigars as, in the US market at least, they have a fair bit of prestige about them, but there are better Non Cuban cigars on the market for far less, IMO
cigcars Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I've smoked a few Fuente Fuente Opus X's upon their release. It just doesn't do anything for me, period. I know it's a quality smoke, very well made and aged - it's just that the flavor and all I can take or leave...prefer to leave. I enjoy the Don Carlos cigars MUCH better. 1
finecigar Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Used to be a big OpusX fan too with more in my collection.. Now I just keep a box worth of the Petit Lanceros and XXX.. Those are my favorite sizes and local bm will have them at a healthy discount once a year at an unbeatable price. They age marvelously.
Pedro2486 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I've smoked a few different Fuentes and they're ok. I enjoyed the lost city robusto but, in Australia at least, I really don't see why they're worth it at all. I suppose if the situation was like the USA it would be different but here there are cheaper Cubans anyway. I would still like to sample the Anejo's though

nikesupremedunk Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Really liked them when I first started smoking but I just never crave them enough to smoke one now. Maybe I'll get that craving many years from now and by then they would have aged nicely.
Pedro2486 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I will bring you an Anejo...next catch up..want a shark pedro ?Be sure to let me know Cheers west Love to try one mate. New cigar, new smoking spot
kiwicrusaders Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Love the Opus X... Mind u I've only had one but would rank it as the top 3 I've ever smoked. EVER ! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Smallclub Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Opus X or how to make money from crap that is unsmokable young, and completely uninspiring when aged: a great lesson in marketing. 3
sengjc Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Used to be more affordable... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
TheLiquidGator Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Smoked an Opus "A" on the Fourth of July and it was an amazing smoke. It was 9 years old. Very complex. I like most of them. Especially the Power Ranger. It is very good and so strong you must smoke it slowly. For the money I would go for the Anejo 46 and Shark. Opus is over priced.
mikek Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 About the only Fuente I will go out of my way for is the 2005 God Of Fire Tubo robusto very hard to find,A very dark almost black excellent smoke I give it A 96 and I'm stingey with the points!

elam370 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Ive always been partial to the original FF Don Carlos Anniversario releases in 2007-2008. They still make them, but the original releases were....breathtaking.
laficion Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I don't really see It. There may be those who like them but I don't like ANY of them. They are toooooo expensive for what they are, ALL of the Funetes are what they are but as for me ,I won't smoke any of them. There are much better cigars elsewhere. In my opinion. Guy 2

vinnyvega Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Not for me. Don Carlos, on the other hand, is the best NC cigar period. Smoking a box from 1999 which has the original 1984 crop and it easily trumps 80% of Habanos. Past or present.
dtrott Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Not a big fan of the Fuente Opus line.Actually I,m not a fan of any of the dominican puros released in the last 5 to 10years.They are all incredibly overpriced and in my mind simply not worth it.
