smh Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Hi mate, Are you able to take a few screen shots and upload them here? Would love to see what the rh and temp on the UI looks like. Lastly, how long does the batteries last for? Does it alert you if it is low? Cheers Sure! I've linked to some screenshots below from this morning. As far as the settings go, you can set it to check temp/humidity anywhere from every 30 seconds to every 4 hours. I have it set up to check every 10 minutes and to alert me should the temp/humidity move outside the parameters I set (62-69 for both temp and humidity). I've only had it for 3 months, but I am still on 93% battery. Reviews I've seen say anywhere from 4 months to a couple years. I'd be perfectly okay with either as they take the cheap disk/watch batteries, but it seems like I'll get at least a year out of a set of batteries. My tags are out in the open air so there's a decent amount of fluctuation since it is measuring the air. When I put the tag in a cab or box, the temp/humidity stays pegged on 66/65. http://imgur.com/a/6TuvQ 1
gangstarrrrr Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 These wireless tags looks really good. Definitely thinking about it.

TomF Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Why do you want to be able to monitor your RH when you're away from home? Aside from the peice of mind it may offer, knowing that everything is working well while youre away, I see no point in knowing the RH has dropped when your 1000's of KM away from home, unless you plan to school your wife/kids/housemate on how to recharge your beads/humidifer while your away ^^ This ^^ I can't imagine wanting to do anything like this. If I am away from home it means I'm either on vacation or working. If I know my humidors are running stable for months before I leave, and then I go away on vacation, do I really want to be checking on the RH in my humidors while I'm away? What way to ruin a vacation, or distract me from important work. I'm never gone gone for that long, and If something goes wrong, I'll deal with it when I get home. If I need to be away for an extended period I'd get a friend or family member to check on the humidors from time to time and give them instructions on how to spritz the beads if the RH gets low.

Short version: you can do more with wirelesstags than measure your humidor's temp/humidity Long version: I guess it depends on what your purpose is for purchasing. For me, it came down to this. I needed something to accurately give me readings of temp and humidity, without having to check 3 different places where my cigars are stored. I could have gone with an Ambient Weather WS-10, spent $50 and have a "home unit" sitting out (tacky) or in a drawer somewhere at home; but that would only allow me to know what the temp and humidity were when I checked it and not the other 99% of the time. This matters when setting up an active temp humidor like a wineador or have thousands of dollars invested in cigars and wouldn't mind a little more assurance that you're keeping them stored correctly. Wirelesstag was $60 more and allows me to do much more. On the cigar front, when coupled with Wemo plugs, it can replace an electronic temperature controller, runs fans when humidity is higher in one area than another, or turn on an LED light when you open your humidor. If you like to tinker or enjoy electronics or enjoy customization, this is for you. Additionally, wireless tags can be used for many other things I planned on doing anyway. For example, I'm about to buy another tag that I'll use to detect movement of the garage door that will send a signal to a Wemo plug located inside the home to turn on a lamp anytime between the hours of 7pm and 7am upon my acknowledgement for when I get home late from work. I'll add more when my son starts coming home after school to know when he gets home and to use as a makeshift security system to turn on a wireless camera if there is motion detected at the front door. All that said, it may not be for you.
CaptainQuintero Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 The Elertus system looks very cool. Not sure how it runs in practice but very good reviews out there
jimsta10 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Got the wireless sensor tags...awesome. Very simple to setup and monitoring remotely is a breeze. The beauty is, you don't have to pay for any subscription fees...all cloud hosted services are FREE! I'm ordering more tags to monitor my house and garage doors. 1
