The question all depends on how one would view $20. If its no big deal to shell out $20+ for a cigar regularly, then certainly there are plenty of cigars that are |worth" it. If, like me, $20 is relat

I suppose that price is never really a guarantee of quality. There are many things that might be considered overpriced - I can't imagine spending $100 a month to watch television, or to have a cell ph

I agree with Shlomo here. I sometimes worry when lighting a cigar >$20 as my expectations are higher and more likely than not I don't have a full box of them to test out. From time to time I will b

I find price means more in the NC world. I find a huge difference as you go up in price in NC then CC. I find most under $10 NC's boring, not all but most. But when I light up a $20+ Padron it's bliss that most CC can't match. With CC's I don't find a BHK better or more complex than a PSD4, just different.

Interesting that the Sir Winstons just came up at $15.08 per stick on the 12:12. If I think about that, and then think about the question again, I have to say no, there's no cigar that I ever smoke that I think is worth 30% more than a good Sir Winston.

I love to drink Pepperjack Shiraz $40 for two bottles. Save $8 a bottle when on sale at the 2 for 20.

While I like a Pepperjack Shiraz...it hit's the right notes for me...I will never remember one.

The Amarone Gino graciously gave me I will remember for the rest of my life. The Partagas Gran Lusitanias I shared with ken and Fuzz (Chris), I will remember for the rest of my life. Amarone in Oz (that bottle) north of $200 AUD. The Gran Lusi in Oz a $90 stick.

Would I pass up that experience....no. Memories of great experiences are the caviar of life.

Yes:

ED54

Bolivar especiales no 2

I will pay 20+ for these all day everyday and multiple times on Sunday. Bloody fantastic smokes. Well worth their price tag. I have a box of regiales del londres, PGR, a p1 jar, 2009 cohiba lanceros and Cohiba sublimes that I hope live up to this billing as well.

No: Flor de cano Asia RE

monte 520

Punch platino

While good not worth 20,30, or 50 a stick.

Some cigars are worth $20 and more, sometimes much more. As Rob says, the ones that provide a rare experience. A few examples that come to mind..

I paid £50 for a Dunhill Malecon, well worth it plus I got to smoke it with some great people. Fantastic.

If I could find more PL Magnificos at £20-£25 each, I'd buy a few more. Same with the Legendarios.

100 euro for 1969 Partagas 109, well worth to me for a cigar made the year I was born.

250 euro for a box of 10 Ago '03 Siglo VI. Great cigars, getting rare now and the month my eldest was born.

Luckily I'm normally very happy with cigars that cost quite a bit less.

I've had a few Padrons so far, personally they're all way to expensive. I still don't get what the hype is all about with Padron

Same here do not care for Padrons. Liga T52 I like on occasion much better at 1/2 the cost.

20 bucks for a cigar oh man. When I am picking up that 30 dollar Cuban I am doing the best I can to make it the best smoke I ever had. i can't imagine paying that for something NC. Shouldn't complain I guess it's what keeps me down to only a few a week. Funny thing, just checking flights and a room at a resort and it is cheaper to fly from Canada to Cuba and buy a couple boxes and bring them home (wife doesn't smoke so that makes four legally) and having a fine vacation. Plus I love walking around smoking and drinking freely in the airport.

all, when exceptional, in taste or occasion

Leo I can't agree with this more. For example my first partagas short, I would gladly pay 20 bucks to recreate that experience every time.

Considering a Prominentes is around 16 euros, and they are my favorite vitola. There are many I have smoked that are worth it.

Same for Gran Coronas.

A few EL are worth it too; Cohiba Pyramide 01 and 06, HdM Particulares 00, 01, Cuaba 08 come to mind

Most of the time I am perfectly happy with under 10 euro smokes though.

I couldn't agree more. A story with a slight different take. A buddy and I had a nice bike ride up through the mountains and stopped on the other side at a small little seaside town. I had a Punch London Club and a Quarum Corona, two smaller NC cigars I found in the bottom of my humidor. Definitely nothing special. We sat in a park under a shade tree and smoked them. I took the Quarum and gave him the Punch. You know I can still remember the taste and thinking this ain't that bad. Good company makes it not the price. Though I wonder how much fun a couple Montes would have been.

Living in Canada, prices are very high. If you are new to smoking, you are going to go to b&m to start and it's hard pressed to find any cuban cigars under 20 dollars. Sure you'll start with a monte 5 or HU majestic for 15 dollars, but you'll soon want to try a Cohiba or partagas. Those are going to run you 20+ all day long, and that's the cheap ones. Then you are going to want to try something special.... And pay 50 dollars. You'll do this until you realize that the ones you really want to smoke all the time are 20, 30, 40 dollars and you'll have to find cheaper ways to smoke those. Forums, etc help you find your way and soon you are buying boxes of sir Winston's for 15.08 a stick.

You see the point is , I have spend 53 dollars for a cigar, was it worth it? I don't know, I loved it? and ended up buying a box of them online at 26 dollars each, and love them... If spend 53 or 26 for the same one , I loved it. It's all relative.

When I go to Cuba next year and buy the same cigar to smoke one afternoon and only pay 13 dollars for it, it's not going to be any better or worst... Depending on some non cost factors.

Again, building a collection and averaging 10 dollars, or 15, or buying singles at B&Ms for 20+ .... It's all relative. How much money do you make, your wife make, where are you, what's happened that day, or week, what is the weather like, what are you pairing it with, what friends are you with, etc etc etc......

To ask what cigars are worth it can't really be answered with a yes or no.....
