SmokingSkull Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 I was documenting some of my pieces earlier today and thought those with an appreciation for history might be interested in seeing this. It's the cigar ashtray that Ernest Hemingway gave to Orson Welles 60 years ago. Silver-plate, not silver. Giant of a piece. Perfect nick. A lovely, simple ashtray. Papa was not renowned for gift giving and Welles' daughter, Bibi, said it became her father's most treasured possession. Here's a wonderful clip of that bear of a man.
Maplepie Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 it also doubles as a funky new aged hat! that keeps out alien mind readers...
Habana Mike Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Oh to have a cigar with Orson or Earnest, quite the conversations I would imagine! If there was any one thing I could conjure up I believe it would be fishing with Hemingway off the coast of Cuba... 1
