Popular Post soutso Posted July 20, 2014 Popular Post Posted July 20, 2014 It's Sunday night and it's cold. The Mrs is out and I've just put the kids together with the Playstation. This should give me a nice window to relax. I pull out my Hoyo and go into her art studio. It's too cold to be outside. She'll be unhappy about it but let's deal with that issue later. For now I'm going to light up. First ThirdVery easy draw. A breeze of a draw with no resistance at all. I usually like a little resistance. Still all is good.First few puffs are spicy. It's like a hot chile. I can also detect a grassiness to this cigar, that's my usual experience with these. There is usually a fresh grassiness to them. There is also plenty of smoke with each puff. It's a cloud of light grey. The aftertaste to me is sweet and cedar like.In between puffs I'm checking out her latest work. She's in here every night. It's her passion. She scrounges a living out of it. Right now I'm indulging in my passion, it gouges my pocket. No wonder she considers herself far more productive than I could ever be. I will add that this cigar is nice and smooth. It's all grass and tobacco now. Really tasty. This box is about fifteen months old and I promised myself to age at least 20 of them. After this one I'll have fourteen left..... I have no discipline.I can hear a thud against the wall. I can hear the floorboards banging. I choose to ignore it.First third is all I hoped for and what I consistently experience. Flavours are never strong but mild and fresh.Second ThirdA creaminess is coming into play now. I'm a little nervous describing the flavours as I always imagine there's someone reading this, who's smoked hundreds of these saying to themselves 'this guy is one hell of a knob'. Enough about my insecurities, I'll call it as I see it I guess. That's all I can do...The flavour has developed into what one would describe as nutty. Have you ever bought peanuts in their shell and cracked the shell and smelt the aroma? It's exactly that. It's also smooth and creamy. One of them is crying inside. I text the older one to see what's going on. She states, "Nothing. Sofia is a sore loser" Nothing like good old competition between siblings...On a side note, what a lovely band, it's so regal.Last ThirdStill nutty. The spiciness I detected in the first few puffs is now reappearing. I should add that it's a good spiciness. Never harsh.I never tell the kids when I enjoy a cigar. They get hysterical about it. The anti smoking message is strong these days.Last week my eldest told me her teacher said that only a fool would smoke cigars. She obviously has never smoked an in form Monte 2.As I approach the end I must give credit to the smoothness of this cigar. That's it's great constant throughout - smoothness. Even as I feel the heat at the end it's never rough. It's been a grassy, nutty and spicy ride that lasted slightly over an hour.I'll go back inside and make a nice cheese platter to welcome home the love of my life.... before she escapes to her studio.... 8
LordAnubis Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Wow, some good paintings there! Any aftermath from the mrs?
soutso Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 She's not home yet! Cheese platter looks great though...
groundhog Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Excellent review, with some nice pics to boot! One of my favourite cigars so far, I think.
bradbrennan Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Good stuff!! Imagine if you could produce that kind of art while smoking your cigars, now that would be productive! I love the "texted the oldest one to see what's going on" reminds me of trying to smoke with my younger brother via Skype, his kids are even younger but very similar sounds!
Rye Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Great review! Be sure to smoke in her studio regularly so we can see her work progress! I really like the HdM PR, but haven't had any for awhile. 1
yankees9588 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Gonna look into these, the only HdM i've tried was the epicure no2, they are fantastic and I'm sure these are just as good
cigarbreak Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Really enjoyed reading your review. Loved the delivery and quips about what was going on during your smoking experience lol. I've only tried one but can definitely agree RE the peanutty hits and cream.
