The Count of Monte Cristo. Was expecting a boring, drab read, which is what you usually get from mid 1800s lit. Instead, I've been riveted from the beginning and it's a real page-turner (all 1200 of

When I travel I take audio books with me. They fit on my phone nicely and I have no eye strain. On long drives they can make time past quickly and interestingly. It takes longer to get through a book as they are read aloud. Some books can have multiple readers but often it is only one reader using different voices.

For a science fiction classic try Childhoods End by Arthur C Clark

Just finished a Steven King book called Mr. Mercedes which is worth a listen

From 2008 another Steven King book I enjoyed was Duma Key

An older detective book I revisited in audio format is called Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen.

Go to twit.tv and you can get 2 free books books from audible.com (Amazon) and you could cancel after but I bet you may not

"A Memory of Light,"

This is the final book in the Wheel of Time series by the late Robert Jordan.

I'm a huge fan of long fiction series, especially scifi and fantasy. Of all the series I've read, not only was this one of the best, but the end was possibly the best / most satisfying series ending of any that I've ready. This is up there with Lord of the Rings (really), and I'd recommend it highly to any fans of the genre.

"Ready Player One."

This is a surprisingly awesome book for and of scifi / video games / '80s pop culture. The author's predictions about the future of virtual reality and how it might effect society are very interesting, and the story was great. It's a quick read too .. or if you're like me and prefer audio books, its' a quick "listen." And even better, the audiobook is read by none other than Star Trek's Will Weaton! I'm planning to go through it again before the years is out (which is saying something!).

"Ender's Game."

I realize this one is far from new, but I hadn't gotten around to reading it until the movie came out. Fantastic book! Yes, it's way better than the movie, but the movie was still entertaining. I'm working through the sequels now, which are very different, but also good books (only into the 2nd sequel now).

Glad to hear this. I read the first three books years ago (which were great), but was put off by the fact that Robert Jordan died before finishing the last book. I know he left notes for his son to finish the series, but I thought it couldn't be as good as what he would have written himself.

I might buy the whole series and start at book one again.

You should get them! While in the hospital, Robert Jordan wrote extensive outlines for the finale of the series (which turned into 3 books). Brandon Sanderson wrote those last 3 books, he's an excellent writer and he really did do an awesome job, imvho. Different, yes, but true to Jordan's characters and story.

Finished it a couple nights ago. VERY enjoyable. Far from King's best work imo, but still an excellent read, with quick little sections and interesting and captivating plot. I do have to say that the end was kind of hokey, almost M. Night Shmayalan hokey, but other than the last 50 or so pages, well worth the time commitment. Very much recommended!

Also finished FOUR from the Divergent collection. Very short, but a nice accompaniement to Divergent. Started Insurgent a couple nights ago. Just as enjoyable as the others. I do like this series very much, even though the target audience is clearly adolescent females....

Loved this book.

Reading an oldie but a goodie. Norman Mailer's "The Executioner's Song". What happened was I was trying to get through "The Goldfinch"... forever. I just could not do it. Finally I gave up when I was ready to chew my arms off holding up my ipad mini.

Went to my faithful Pulitzer Prize list and came up with this ^^^. Riveting!

Keith Richards.."Life" The guy unbelievably has it together and remembers everything. A very interesting read from post war England as a boy to recent times. A different take on the history of rock & roll. Some good pic's and worthwhile reading.
