Unfortunately our liquor monopole here does not carry it but I read wonderful things about it. You are in for a treat I bet.

Lou: methinks the duty frees have it cheaper than the 10s.

Or get into contact with some AB mates ;)

Not that bad

i have a friend hows going to NH next week I'll ask him to seek it out I think they have it for less than 75. If I dont get any and my no1 target these days is out if stock for good I may ask for the great brother of Ab to help out (I am more than grateful for having these guys to back me up already). Lol

That being said, let us know what you think about it Ken.

I picked my two bottles of this up in NH $54 each.

Got to love NH pricing.

Ken, did you get the Talisker Storm or Talisker Dark Storm? I picked up a Talisker Storm here in Victoria for $52 (dont ask how so cheap) and a Talisker Dark Storm in Vienna duty free for 62 EUR.

I'm also curious to hear thoughts, I havnt cracked either bottle yet myself

my apols, good question and an embarrassing one. picked it up at duty free for collection on return but it is the 'dark storm', not 'storm'. about $A90. and a litre of laphroaig PX cask for about $A80.

never tried either before.

It found it to be quite good when I first tried it at Whisky Live Melbourne 2013. That prompted me to get a bottle.

Compared with the standard 10 Year Old, I would say the 10 Year Old is probably mildly better and better value.

I haven't opened my bottle of Dark Storm so I cannot really say.

The Laphroaig PX Cask is hit and miss, some batches are superb while others can be mediocre.

I didn't;'t really like Dark storm ...that smoky flavour doesn't work for me and I think it was the Laphroaig I purchased duty free they were side by side, matured in charred casks ...seemed to be a cross between formaldehyde and charcoal. I couldn't even demote it to the bream fishing dinghy . Hope you like it though..just wasn't for me. Gave mine to my father and he liked it.

Ken - both nice, the Dark very nice. Need a Dip #2 to match and make sure you're sitting down... And I know you would not ruin it with ice...!

Port Charlotte (by Bruichladdich) might be to your liking as well, Ken

I haven't tried it, but was lucky to try a Talisker 20 2 years ago on Skye, and it was a Whiskygasm.

Let us know how it is.

Talisker 10 is my all time favorite dram, and although I think of myself as a bourbon guy, perhaps king of the brown sauces. I've had the storm. I like it a lot, but not as much as the standard bottle of Talisker. I feel similarly about the Uigeadail. I prefer the standard bottling. I've had 1.5 ounces of Talisker 30. Very, very good.

I liked the Talisker Storm, because it is not as smoky as the 10 yr. However, the distillers edition is better- sweeter, overall a very nice scotch. That said, for a slightly smoky scotch, I like Highland Park, Scapa and Compass Box Flaming Heart more.

Not good huh? I guess that is probably why it is a Duty Free Exclusive.

It seems to be a general consensus among the whisky circles that Duty Free Exclusives tend to be labelled as such to assist the distilleries move their inferior stock

Anyway, I'll open up my bottle in time and experience for myself.
