This Yankee calls it plastic wrap

But it's not plastic, or even plastic-derived…

Well then, can we agree to call it plywood wrap?

I believe it...but it's a common reference in our area for a generic food wrap, but we are kind of in the sticks. My in-laws prefer Glad Wrap, I grew up with Saran Wrap, but we prefer the Walmart plastic food wrap as they call it on the box. I've seen plenty of discussions on storing cigars in cello or not, and they seem to go both ways regularly, but based on the Bolivar box changing another cigars flavor, maybe a wrap of some sort isn't a bad idea?

This was a joke! No way it can happen! yes.gif

here comes a tad of pedantry! what do you mates define plastic as? the chemist in me always uses 'Organic Polymers' to generalise it with some exceptions (resins, etc). Saran would fall under this distinction...

i've always enjoyed the words: cling film. but i still call it Saran wrap as it's a middle ground between UK and US english. it's best to use the colloquial chemical name for it instead of polyvinyldiene (which i do prefer). I mean, we call certain jugs: HDPE, why can't we call Saran: PVD?

Anywhooo......... digression, much?

yeah, it's important that you don't believe that. need to clear up the confusion!! That defintely doesn't happen. laugh.png

the wrap (as Straizor pointed out. And how we got into this Saran discussion) was meant to maintain the oils better. which i wouldn't doubt. I mean, most CCs prior to 1990s all came in either Cello or Tubes (generally, small cigars had cello, large cigars had tubes). now with the larger cubans coming out, it's not practical to cello all of them... especially with the SLBs.

One of the best feelings in the world is seeing an opaque 20YO Cuban Cigar in cello. Glorious walls of the cello that have been tainted by the cigar so that there's a light dust on the inside. smelling that enhances it beyond belief.

Saran, yes, but I though we were talking about cellophane…

ah: here lay the confusion. very originally, yes.

but because of the inaccesibility to cellphane for the most of us, i asked if Saran would possibly do the same job. then we started discussing that
