Maplepie Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Pictures of the worker wetting handfuls of leaves are in many books, including the one published by HSA...My comment was more of a general comment to the whole goings-on. Some pictures i'd love to be able to take when I finally visit...Plus, isn't it better to have your own pictures of the Alps than see then plastered on some travel guide? Much like Tom's cigar here Sent from my Q10 using Tapatalk
straizor Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 No, these were grown and cured at Robaina and my friend said they were aged 5+ years when he gave them to me over a year ago. They are truly beautiful, and I've pressed one between glass sheets and illuminated it as a decorative piece for myself. If nothing else, it would be cool to see what the torcedor thinks of the stuff. This tour hits here in a couple weeks so I'll book the afternoon off and go hang out at the shop go for it ryan and tell us how it went. with pictures of course
Rye Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Well Rei was a good sport! When I asked for Lanceros, he begrudgingly obliged, then I asked for him to look at my tobacco to use. He opened the bag, sifted through, then said to the translator "he knows this is wrapper leaf yes?" I nodded, smiled, and asked if it would work. He proceeded to bunch up the leaf for my "little bit stronger" lancies, then tightly rolled them in newspaper strips and twisted the ends like Mexican candies, and set them aside. He then began to unwrap a few others from their newspaper moulds and finish them off. When he was ready for a break, we all went outside and enjoyed cigars and rum in the sun, then we went back in and he grabbed my cigars and went to work. I asked him what he thought of the wrapper, to which he simply replied "I like the colour" I can't wait to light my version of the "tommy gun" but I think I will let it sit a bit as a fair amount of water was added to the leaf for rolling. I had 2 long n'skinnies rolled with my wrap, and gave some to friends for theirs, and bought a robusto and a corona of his blend as well as a SCdlH from the Torrean jar that just arrived in the shop. I am smoking the robusto he just rolled a couple of hours ago, and it is delicious! What a treat of a day spent in great company! 4

ptrthgr8 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Great cigar. But "Tommy Gun?" That was a submachine gun. Shoots a lot of handgun caliber bullets fairly quickly. That cigar is uber long. Should be called an Anzio Annie. That would be more appropriate. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk

Firebender Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Wow, very nice day indeed. I would have loved to see Rei roll few robustos for me. But Canada is little too far..
ajgagnon Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 That's the fella who was in Calgary as well. Quite a road trip! I had one of his cigars today. It was a Lonsdale as well, by request. I think it may have been intended as a corona extra but hey, it worked. Quite mild but with nice flavours of chewy tobacco, and maybe some coffee. Given that it was rolled this week, I think it was overly humid and the flavours were somewhat muted and it wanted to go out. I have two more that I will keep for a while to marry and even out in moisture. Gracias, señor.
