straizor Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 For me the RE inspires most interest due to the new, original, unique or resurrected vitolas and blends. x2
Maplepie Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I thought about adding Jars but some of them are regional releases(Italy, Cuba). I will add it though. The only truly regional Jar (in my opinion) is the Cuban one... and perhaps the Dutch Bolivar jar...... Other jars are WAY too Special Edition to be considered in the regional production lines. I would include the Bolivar 5th Ave, Chinese Bolivars, and even the La Escpecion Italian Jars in this category. They all have the RE band.... but it's the difficulty and price that makes them 'special release'. hence, they'd fit in more with the 'Jar' category than the 'Regional' category. anyone: feel free to disagree with me here. I just figure i'd point out this fine line quarrel.....
Hohenthal Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Personally the LCDH releases win. Although, I have not had a libertadores yet. EL would undoubtedly be the most successful for Habanos I would think. Agree with you, EL commercially and LCdH in terms of blend / overall quality. ER a close second or, if you only pick the best ones, on par with LCdH
Popular Post Ryan Posted June 1, 2014 Popular Post Posted June 1, 2014 The most successful special release so far is possibly the original 40th anniversary Behike. They all sold out quickly, are like hen's teeth now, sell for 4 to 6 times their original price and launched an entire Cohiba linea 4 years later, which is hugely successful. It will be interesting to see what the 50th anniversary of Cohiba brings in 18 months time. 5
Armaniac Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 My fave is the regional program, followed by the LCDH stuff. x2
Bostin Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hi IMHO after 5 months experience I love the Punch Northern Light and the Monte D 2005 Stefan Stefan Skickas från min iPhone via Tapatalk
KoreanCowboy Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 This would depend on how you define "successful". Successful as in making Cuba money and selling out quickly, or successful in what tastes and smokes good, or even successful as in the total numbers produced. Ryan's point is very good and that would definitely qualify as a huge success but I personally do not enjoy the Behike flavors and the price point is way above my pay grade so for me it's not a success. I much prefer LCDH releases because I can afford them and they are generally very good. That being said, those releases probably do not generate as much income per cigar as the EL's or Regional release because the prices on those sticks are generally 40%-50% higher than a normal line cigar.
Mauricio Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Bolivar Gold Medal was a great cigar for me, a flavor bomb.
elam370 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Jar. Purely for the Partagas P.1 And then the LCDH stuff. Regionals sometimes are amazing and sometimes horrid.
sengjc Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Jar. Purely for the Partagas P.1... That's true. I reckon if they stick the new release Monte Petit No. 2 in a jar, it will sell better.
mk05 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 That's true. I reckon if they stick the new release Monte Petit No. 2 in a jar, it will sell better. This is hilarious and is quite true for things that never sell.
elam370 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 That's true. I reckon if they stick the new release Monte Petit No. 2 in a jar, it will sell better. I honestly prefer the Petit No. 2 over the regular No. 2 runs when buying blind. That said I've avoided Monte No.2s in any variation like the plauge purely because the consistency (outside of FOH handpicks) are genuinely miserable. That said, I have had excellent luck and flavor from the 5x3 Cardboard runs of Monte Petit No. 2s. The Jar might help though.
Lant63 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Any opinions on what the best Ramon Allones regional release is? Are the Libano release the cream of the crop, or are the Canadian ones on the same level? I am especially interested in the Super Ramon. Also, how is the Estupendos smoking with 8 years on them?
samuelsmithbeer Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 For me I like the RE'S the best. I like doing themed nights. German food, German beer and a German regional to end the night.

I've really enjoyed all the Canada RA RE, Lebanese also have been very good though I've not had many. Haven't had an Estupendo yet that's knocked my socks off. For some reason I have several boxes of RACF though!
