MIKA27
Samurai Dazzles With Soccer Tricks For this year’s World Cup, Japanese noodle company Nissin thought it would be a good idea to send Red Bull athlete Kotaro Tokuda to Brazil. To do soccer tricks. In samurai gear. Tokuda is a freestyle football champ and apparently pulled off these moves without the help of CGI or wire trickery.

cns187
I should be a patriot and support England but the reality is they barely have a chance in getting very far. Nevertheless I will continue to put myself through the never ending disappointment and watch their matches anyway! ;-) I notice quite a bit of support for Chile, I also quite like them as an underdog this year and managed to put a cheeky little bet on them a few weeks ago at 40-1. Should be a nice return if they come through! No way Chile makes it out of that group ahead of the Dutch and Spain.
mgravito
My parents, family, wife's family: all Portuguese. I certainly love rooting for them, but my head and heart are with the US. I was born and raised here and I love my country. It will be very contentious at my house next Sunday. The thing people forget is that it's the group of death because the US are in the group. I'm sure none of the other teams are looking forward to playing us. I've watched Portugal play a lot over the last few years and I can tell you, they're very overhyped. They looked terrible for large stretches of qualifying and all 3 teams in the group have the personnel to cut off Ronaldo's supply line. He'll get frustrated and take himself out of the game. He's not playing in Real where you leave yourself horribly exposed if you key in on him. I like Moutinho, Varela and Contrao, but their strikers are piss poor and they have very very little depth. The team that really scares the hell out of me in this group is Ghana. I think the US have a better chance to get out than most people do, but if I had to put my mortgage on it, I'd say 1. Germany, 2. Ghana, 3. USA, 4. Portugal. Outside of the group, count me as another one of Chile's fans and I think they'll make a nice run. Arturo Vidal is a lot of fun to watch. I think England are going to surprise a lot of people. They have a real nice mix of youth and experience and talent. Their back line is a bit shaky, but if they can shore that up (I think they can) I think they're in for a great and surprising tournament. My prediction: Brazil over England 3-

tippexx
Fingers crossed for England, but I'm not that confident, especially as we've got a tricky group! I believe we'll get through it .... and in a months time they'll be two stars on an England jersey!
DrunkenMonkey
I thought Portugal looked sharp against Ireland in yesterday's friendly. They may just tear the US defense apart.
CaptainQuintero
Actually very excited and looking forward to this tourney! Years of watching England play and having the players with the potential to win it, but never doing well was getting boring. Now a young and skilful but inexperienced team that haven't got the potential to win (On paper) makes it exciting to see how far they can get. On the news today the team were apparently practising taking penalties against an open goal with no keeper, some players still missed :S I thought Portugal looked sharp against Ireland in yesterday's friendly. They may just tear the US defense apart. I reckon depending on how Ron plays Portugal can do reasonably well, probably the most influential 'on-the-pitch' player in the world imo. If someone like Beckham can galvanise a mediocre team to massive over-achievement like he did in 2002 then Ronaldo should be able to, at the very least, repeat it.

Portugal just destroyed Ireland 5-1 and Ronaldo didn't have much to do with any of the goals from what I saw. They will be fine. If they don't make it out of the group with Germany it will be a huge upset.
AlastairE
Netherlands, for sure. There are already reports of in-fighting. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk Yup - Chile to make it through with Spain. Both teams could easily end up on 7 points each. For me the hard to pick groups are: C (Ivory Coast or Japan) D (England or Uruguay), and G (Russia or South Korea)

Ahh yes, not enough coffee this morning - G and H are too close together on the keyboard.... Anyone want to help me with group H? Asian teams are usually quite successful at WC's and I think Korea will get the job done but I'm not 100% convinced. Offering much nicer odds than Russia though
Ken Gargett
i have portugal and netherlands in a sweep so happy with either. of course, as an aussie, i have to support any and every team playing england. my cousin's husband, yes a soccer fan but he is irish, has bet with me for the aust v dutch game. he took australia. willingly. without odds. i just look forward to the inevitable whinging from someone. and hopefully not us again after that shameful bleating when italy beat us with the last minute penalty. that was embarrassing. much more fun when it is england - i was in england for the 'hand of god' goal. given maradona also scored probably the greatest world cup goal ever in that game as well, not sure why england thought they were robbed. what is really interesting is that now everyone ******* about it saying how obvious it was and how could 4 foot 8 maradona get over the 6 foot plus goalie. but watch it. the bitching was for offside (which it really looked like it was). it was only later the commentators realised english players were claiming the hand. they did not see it. i'm travelling for almost the entire thing so won't see much. tough enough trying to find the wallabies v france while in finland and the state of origin in germany. Ken Gargett
a side issue - if argentina doesn't get up, where does it leave the legacy of messi? maradona and pele, both with word cups. if messi wants to sit along side, he needs one.

I think you know my position on Messi, baring him sticking the ball in with his arse from the half way line in each match to the final I still can't put him alongside pele, maradona, big Ron or zizzou. I mean pele was essentially proven at world cup level at 17. I haven't yet seen Messi shine without the benefit of having perhaps one of the greatest playmaking teams behind him. it's not as if the Argies are a poor team either! it's a make or break tournament for the messi legend status for me
Smalls
If Messi doesn't get a world cup title he has $50,000,000 a year that will help sooth his sorrows. That is just salary......

ejewell
The Spain Netherlands Game was the first properly called game I'd say so far. Well except for that PK Spain capitalized on. "lemme just stick my leg out to catch his foot even though he's clear of the ball and me" Oranje did fantastic today. And mexico should have won 3-0, Croatia a tie at 2-2 or even a win at 2-1 against the hosts.
