ChanceSchmerr Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Well, I'm sure many remember my previous abortive attempt to go to Kuwait, so now after weeks of uncertainty and anticipation, I'm now off to Crete to meet that ship I was going to be seeing. A good number of days of work lie ahead, but I'm glad I'm at least on my way Sorry again to brothers I was hoping to see along the way - Moe, I'm sorry man, I guess we'll have to wait for London, if that still happens! Nino, apologies, they booked me through Vienna on Austrian, instead of Frankfurt as they normally would. If I'm on LH on the way home, I'll let you know so we can have that coffee! So now, off to the one port I could never track any cigars in whatsoever! If any one is in Crete and wants to meet up for a cigar, please let me know, and if there is anywhere in Chania or Heraklion where CCs can be found, please let me know, I'd love to check it out! At least I brought a good selection with me LOL And hey - does Vienna airport have any good CCs on offer anywhere? Apologies finally to those who I haven't gotten back to in the last few weeks - it's been stressful trying to get this sorted out (interspersed with a long visit from inlaws) so I've not had time for anything, and I will endeavor to catch up in the next few days. This is also why I've not been able to get the last few reviews up for the Corona month, but they will go up, I guarantee that! Lastly - to those who know - no, I've not heard back from the UK university for my Masters. 12.5 weeks and counting. I hope to know real soon..... Cheers all!

Sorry buddy, frantically completely redoing an entire maintenance package and repeating all the effort I did in 3 months previously for a new port and country....and currency....and cost wavelength. You'd be surprised how much difference in cost for some work between Kuwait and Greece.

You'd be surprised how much difference in cost for some work between Kuwait and Greece. don't have to apologise! best thing you can do is to smoke that bloody Hoyo Corona and let us know how you've been getting along with it... and the Punch Corona, if i can remember Hope it'll be more relaxed there, though Summer's coming early for you!

Don't know the recent offers as I tend to go from and to MUC - it's a good but SMALL selection compared to Fankfurt etc. Anyway, have a safe trip and enjoy your time in good old Europe! Cheers, Alex

As outbound you will be transferring from Vienna to Crete you will be in the Shengen area and there are non available for traveling inside the EU. On the way back if you are flying out of Vienna to outside of the EU (international non Shengan) then there is a much bigger selection with all the usual suspects available.so in summary if you want some smokes in Crete you will not find many in Vienna and almost certainly non in Crete itself. ChanceSchmerr Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Hey guys, Thanks for the Vienna advice - I had a quick look and did find some, but only the basics once again - lots of PSP2, Hoyo Epi 2s, etc. I wasn't there that long - I had to change planes from Austrian (good service!) to Niki Lufthart (uh...they got me there, I guess is a positive). Unfortunately, there was more work waiting here for me to do than anticipated (isn't there always!) so the first week has been a bag drive. It's been sunny and warm, but very windy as well, almost annoyingly so. Yesterday was my first day out in Chania itself. I bought some Olive Oil, a nice Olive wood salad bowl, had some great octopus and lamb, skype'd with my wife, enjoyed a fine QdO Panetela from Keith, and later a Monte Sublime 08 just 'cause.....it was a good day. And I finally found a Cigar store! Tiny, with a small and unvaried selection - at least it's good to know there's somewhere in Chania where a cigar person can go. PSD4s, Siglo IIs, PSD5s, Majestics/Mille Fleurs, etc. Looking ahead, I have a few more days and then it's home to Canada. No side trip for me on the way back, but it looks like I'll have a 5 hour layover in Munich. Since a bunch of folks on here (Lisa particularly) have mentioned the city center as a good place to go - I'm gonna take the S-Bahn into town from the airport to have a quick look around! Any recommendations on where to find good selection of cigars (RE's in particular!), and a good spot downtown for a quick bite? For stores I was thinking Pfeifen Huber, and/or the Sommer superstore. Thoughts?
