Great read! Thanks for sharing your experience. Its nice to say you had the opportunity to enjoy this cigar and take it of your bucket list.

I am actually not surprised. Had a couple of old Davidoffs and despite being pleasant cigars did not live up to the hype and were quite mild which is a characteristic of most Davidoffs.. Min Ron Nee, in his book, also made note that he found them to be less than stellar.

I've smoked three myself. A 1970's Davidoff No 1. It had plenty of kick left in it and flavour. Very surprising. It took up until the halfway point to materialize but it was excellent. Probably my only, personal, 100 point cigar. A Chateau Margaux made for a nice, relaxing cigar but it did not have the same "wow" factor. And recently, I smoked a Dom Perignon. Not as robust as the No 1,but it had a lot to offer if you smoked it slowly and paid attention. Unless you smoked these back in the day you can't really say if they're the same, better or worse decades later. If you can get your hands on one, go for it.

I enjoyed the one that you gifted me Frank much more than another davidoff that I tried.

I'm glad to hear it! I still have it's twin set aside. I think this is the year I light that one up. :)
