melies
I know that they are two different beasts, but humor me, which one do you prefer?Poll is up
westg
Will always have superiors in stock because I love them so much. That said I have a box of EL extra which are the most amazing oil - laden cigars I have ever seen and so so nice to smoke ....not fair based on one box but I will go for the EL just. NJP
The Extras I have are sick at the moment but I'm enjoying the superiors on the occasions I smoke them.
tmac77
Love the superiors. I went very deep on them on my last few trips to cuba. As for the extras not as big a fan.
laficion
Love the superiors. As for the extras not as big a fan. I'm not so surprised. I smoked the R.A.Extras some 40 years ago when they were their ,"Cheap & Cheerful" Cigar ,and at time ,they were never that cool . They had their old bands on, which used to be on all of their normal line .It's like having today,an E.L. Chicos from Partagas .Sheeeeee.!!!!! asmartbull
It is going to be yrs before the Extra reaches it's potential. ..The Sup is now my RAG alternative sent while mobile....
Maplepie
It is going to be yrs before the Extra reaches it's potential. general consensus is that RA Extras are only Extra in one criteria: Being shitty... [C'mon Maplepie... Did you even TRY for that joke!?] But seriously: i actually enjoyed all three of the Extras i smoked. In fact, pairing it with a good cognac made me feel like i was smoking an NC with development. Now- i know that doesn't make people rush out to buy them - calling a 'premium' CC an NC... But it worked for me! Probably also because i went into the smoke thinking it'd be absolute shite.
thebigk
I would go with the Sups both the OR and current are smoking great

Laxman
RA superiors have been amazing ROTT. They have become my go to cigar the last 6 months. I love anything RA but have smoked 4 or 5 extras (one two nights ago) and have not enjoyed any of them. They look beautiful but for me they just have not been good. No matter how much I want to love them I have been left wanting. I see a ton of extras offered up for sale on different private forums. However everyone taste is different and I come across more then enough people that enjoy them. Personally it is no contest and every chance I get I grab another box of Sups and stay away from the extras.
shlomo
I have not had a great extra. I have smoked through boxes and boxes of great superiores.
earthson
Different beasts for sure - the Extras don't even taste like an RA (to me). That being said, I like the Extras for a change of pace while the Superiores - while freaging awesome - are so close in profile to an RASS of the same age, I will pick a box of RASS over a box of Superiores every time solely based on price. I find the LCDH band often adds an unnecessary price increase. Hope that answer was convoluted enough!
Skyfall
I love them both, unlike a lot of what I hear about the Extra's here, I've yet to have a dud or a mute one, or one that tastes reminiscent of an NC, just haven't experienced any of that. I've gone deep on them, and my boxes are all NOV 11, either HQ or PSP. I've probably smoked through 3 boxes, and have plenty more boxes still in deep sleep.
polarbear
I have multiple boxes of both but I would still LOVE to have a few more boxes of RA Sups So they're the clear winner for me
Smallclub
The few Extras I have smoked were terrible, I couldn't finish them; the Superiores have replaced the RASS in my rotation – they're a bit pricier but more approachable at the same age and I prefer the size.
mash
I find the Extras taste charred. I'm willing to try another one in a year or so to see if they've evolved, but I wouldn't buy any more at this stage based on my experience.
jrb5783
Superiores by a mile
Rye
I've bought boxes of neither one. While I really like the Extra's that I've smoked I'm not sure why there's none in my stash. As for the Superiores, I'd be silly to buy them while I still have access to the Gorditos which are smoking fantastically
cybermadhatter
I have smoked over 3 boxes of each The pol box code RA extras are pretty good , the rest are so so. The superiores are always good
vivalanation734
The Sups are one of my favorite cigars of all time. One of the best RA blends in a long time, IMHO.
kwsaw63
Like most on here I prefer the Superiores but being an RA, it wouldn't surprise me if the Extra starts to come good from 2015 onwards, as I find RA's tend to need a minimum of 3 years before they are a decent smoke.
Pedro2486
Well, I must say I'm a bit deflated now. I was really keen on tracking a box of extras down but now I'm a little more wary. Everything RA I have tried has been right in my zone so maybe I should attempt to locate a couple singles to test first
Skyfall
Don't be deflated! I would venture to say that most of those saying they didn't like the RA Extra likely didn't smoke enough to have a comprehensive metric. Again, all of my boxes were hand picked by Rob and of the best quality, and I have loved all the ones I've had. I've not experienced any of the critiques that others have expressed. A lot of people have almost the same opinions regarding the Cohiba Genios, and I've never had a bad one of those either or had one that tasted like an NC. That being said, all of my boxes of those are also hand picked by Rob and either HQ or PSP quality. I feel I have a very discerning and articulate pallet too, so subtle nuisances in flavors are easily illuminated when I taste cigars, food, wine ect.
