Never heard of those two guys either.

If you want Aussie comedy TV shows; Fast Forward (later called Full Frontal), The D Generation Late Show, Clarke & Dawe, The Dream with Roy & HG, Akropolis Now, Rubbery Figures (for 80's political satire)...and of course the classic, Mother & Son.

I have never heard of Jim Jefferies or Chris Lilley For my taste, great Aussie Comedy is far and few between, The Australian Comedy "Frontline" (based on a current affairs show ) was Aussie Comedy

mate....never heard of him ..seriously. A little like "Outback Restaurants"....until I went to the US...never knew they existed!

I'd seen some of Jim Jefferies stuff elsewhere, but I don't like his style. He's not well known at all in Oz. The more successful Aussie comedians over the years have been, IMO, comedians with a more

fuzz, interesting that both mother and son and norman gunston were gary mcdonald. truly great australian.

Such a shame he had a problem with anxiety and depression. I often wondered how he got through those interviews with Ali etc. I find them stressful to watch and I'm not the one sitting a foot away from an Ali uppercut!

I have seen a bit Jim Jefferies you can put him in a similar bag to Rodney Rude and Kevin Bloody Wilson with no singing. Kinda, sometimes, not really, maybe a little.

What's the deal, am I missing something???

Have you seen any of Rob's and Ken's video reviews?

Google Ronnie Johns Chopper, Ronnie Johns Paulie - a number of YT clips.

Jim's show is called Legit and it's on Fxx . You can watch it on Netflix us. Just use a geo blocker. I know the Irish comedy troop The Rubber Bandits are huge down in oz. If you wanna see there work look up horse outside, I wanna fight our father , or black man.

Totally un-pc, juvenile and guaranteed to offend everybody but I have cried with laughter at Rodney Rude.

"why are women like clouds?

Eventually they #### off and its a really nice day."

Skyfall this Adam Hills one is well worth a look!

Adam Hills seems to have taken up residency in the UK, but for my money you can have him back!

A couple of jokes about having a prosthetic limb is ok, but to base a career on it (the title of his TV series over here being "The Last Leg") is tiring......

It's not that I dont agree with allot of suggestions here.. Or the who the f is that of "American" Australian comedy (perhaps it's,like fosters) but I'm gravely disappointed nobody has mentioned Lano and woodly

I have heard of Jim Jeffries, but only after some American mates told me about him. He's pretty good. More controversial than funny though. I like his stuff on religion.

Personally, I love Clarke & Dawe. I think a nice segway for you would be to look for American comedians that do well down under, as it will give you an idea of what we find funny. Arj Barker comes to mind, but there are plenty more.

apparently it was bad for a while but it managed to largely overcome it. make his achievements even more astounding.

i gather that he and the scriptwriters, for gunston (as hell of a thing to try and script interviews), would have a series of questions and then try and think of every possible response. to which he would have a comeback. and then they would try and think of everything the interviewee might say to that and have a range of responses. but that is an extraordinarily difficult thing.

who? again, never heard of them.

quite fascinating to get an outside idea of what happens here.

They are from Ireland but are a massive success for some reason in oz. They did ok in UK and Ireland but exploded in oz . http://therubberbandits.com

not sure where you are from - the stuff on the side doesn't say. so interested if you are saying that from oz - which would mean i have simply missed them for some reason - or from the uk. again, even if the latter, i might have just missed them, but if so, i'd be interested to know if other aussies know them.

I am from Canada

I am from Canada

ta for that. makes it more interesting. a canadian knowing about the success of an irish act in oz (by the way, if this in any way sounds like i am having a go, i assure you i am not). are they big in canada?

i'll be interested to hear from other aussies - every chance it is something i have just missed. most of the acts named here are completely unknown to me.

every day, i feel more and more like i'm in 'the big chill' - the moment when kievin kline says no decent music written since the 70s (or something like that) - looks like the same applies to comedy, for me.

Well, Outback Restaurants are pretty comical on their own…

You were probably better off having never heard of them.

They did okay down here! In Brisbang anyway. Still fairly niche though. I think it has a lot to do with a strong Irish contingent and Facebook! It took a visit from my Irish brother-in-law to introduce me to their material. Very funny stuff. Given the accents can be hard to grasp, even in song, the film clips to their songs really did it for me. Very clever and hilarious!

Ken i think you just found the reason for his anxiety!

Fair enough fozzie! He's very popular over here and his show Spicks and Specks was huge (even though it was on the public braodcaster ABC). He did have a chat show here for a couple of years after Spicks and Specks that wasn't as good. It was nowhere near as funny as something like what Graham Norton does.

Hills has been a big promoter of disabled sport in Oz (i play wheelchair tennis so am fully behind him in this area!) and has commentated on the last few paralympic games. I think that's where The Last Leg started, during London 2012? We get The Last leg over here and while I like it, it's nowhere near as funny as his stand up. In my opinion anyway!
