zathan Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Habs can't play defensively against the Bruins, they have too much offensive power. Exiting game once again.
SaintLuis Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Want Boston to win, but some of the fan nonsense on Twitter after game 1 was despicable..... Wonder how they feel about Big Papi.... turns out that twitter bit was mostly bogus. http://www.boston.com/sports/blogs/obnoxiousbostonfan/2014/05/next_time_you_call_6_million_b.html Lots of it was generated by a Canadian poster, and most of the posts that had subban and the nbomb in them were actually positive (like "my n***a"). Further, the post saying the nword was trending in beantown was actually completely made up. "According to Montreal media monitoring and analysis company Influence Communications, the N-word and Subban's name were used in conjunction on 17,000 tweets yesterday, although the majority of them were not negative." Pretty sad. I actually feel bad for buying into the "media" crap on that now. I was ashamed for my city, it it didn't even come from my city, and worse, whatever did wasn't even negative. Ugh. Also, I thought Subban handled it with tremendous grace: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2014/05/03/p-k-subban-speaks-out-passionately-against-anyone-tying-racist-tweets-to-bruins-organization/
vinnyvega Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 There are racists in every city in country. Let's just keep it on the hockey fellas.....

SaintLuis Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 There are videos on there with guys actually getting sticked in the face. Marchand is bad. No question. But he's not an entire team of it. 1

IcedCanuck Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Habs took a 2 to 1 game lead in the series. If Montreal plays the rest of the series like they did last night the Bruins will be golfing very soon. This is the beginning of the end for the boys in Beantown!
marper331 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I agree with icedcanuck. the bs did not look good last night and it looks like their season may come to a close very soon if they keep playing catch-up

Agreed on that, and also that the B's seem to only want to play hard in the third period. I think if you see three periods of the B's not ignoring players coming out of penalty boxes, and failing to finish checks and cover guys in the slot, it's hard to see the Habs, which have less talent and depth, winning. But the habs played the better game last night, no doubt. I wouldn't count out the B's just yet though. It wasn't too long ago they came back from a 2-0 game deficit, and sent the Habs golfing.

You're absolutely right SaintLuis. In 2011 Montreal took the foot off the gas in game 3 and Boston was able to come back and win the series in 7 games. The series was tight, I believe each team scored 17 goals and game 7 went to overtime. I think this series is far from over( 7 games? ) Boston plays an aggressive style, not only physically but offensively, they are so hard to beat. The defence pinches in and makes them such a threat. I have been very impressed with Hamilton but especially Krug. Great young talent. (I'm so jealous !!!) I think we will see a different Bruins team on Thursday, they will probably try to dictate the pace and style of the game. One thing for sure, this series is far from boring. Good luck SaintLuis but I still want my Habs to win !!!
SaintLuis Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Yeah. Smells like 7 to me. Good luck to you, kind of. Nerves are shot today. Hard to concentrate.
ogus Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 fly a kid up from Providence his second NHL shot wins a historic playoff overtime game nice here's a classic movie/hockey clip
SaintLuis Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Hard fought game for both teams. I fear there's plenty more of that in store for fans on both sides...
joeypots Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Man, That movie clip....... I saw Bobby Orr play a dozen times when I was a kid. My dad would get tickets at the office and take me. Back then we would get dressed up and put on a tie to go to the old Boston Garden. I was there when Pat Quinn of the Maple Leafs tried to step on Orr with his skate and both benches emptied. Also, I saw Orr break the scoring record for a defense man the first time. 21st goal on his 21st birthday. Bobby Hull broke the scoring record during that game and Derick Sanderson scored a hat trick. I remember this stuff because I was about 11 or 12 years old and Orr and the Bruins were the biggest thing in New England at the time. The popularity of hockey exploded and rinks were built all over the place. It was a phenomenon. Is Bobby Orr the greatest hockey player to play the game? Who knows? One of the greatest sports figures in Boston ever, no doubt. And a great human by any account. Funny, I've been told that while that hockey thing was going on during the big, bad Bruins era, one could walk into the Boston Garden off the street, buy a ticket and see the Celtics play the Lakers in the play offs. Just like going to the movies. I'm talking Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain.
