Hi all,

just looking for some advice...

I'm a big Party fan. i love the marque. Shorts, D4s…the lot!

I've watched the reviews of the Lusi's and 8-9-8s and clearly both are big winners with everyone.

seeing as I have a limited monthly CC budget which should i go for.

to be honest I'll probably just go for one box the first month and one the second but I'm sitting here with my finger itching to send that email to Di and thought I check on which one i should go for first!

cheers

D

You could try singles or they both come in 10 count boxes if its in your budget. That's how I first tried them. I cant tell you which is best but to just try both and you'll know for sure.

I'm a big fan of the 898. To my palate, much more flavor, and development. And they age beautifully. To me the Lusi is a beautiful cigar and experience but doesn't have the intensity of flavor I like. I've smoked through 3-4 boxes of 898s, just one box of Lusis. Better bang for the buck with 898s too

I know this has been asked, but since were on the topic.. What's the strength, flavor profile of the 898? Never had one myself and prob will spring for a box of 10. I love the cedary, toasted tobacco flavor I get from a D4..some creaminess to them as well. I've been through a few boxes already, but no 898's believe it or not..

The 8-9-8 and Lusi are quite different, but both are excellent. Sound's like you've settled on a 10 count box of each, which is a good option.

The 8-9-8 is quite full bodied. Not 'belt you around the the head' type strength, but certainly full tobacco flavour.

The Lusi has good flavours, but for me is generally around medium body, medium-full in parts. The love the Lusi.

I think there is obvious Partagas DNA in both. If you like the Partagas Shorts and the D4 you won't be dissapointed.

I don't have a lot of experience with the Lusitania, but it agrees with previous posts re flavour and strength. I prefer the 898 for its full body. I also prefer the format. I would start there. Enjoy.

Huge fan of both!!! I don't have much time so I would get 898 first as it would give them a head start in the humidor... I mean u gonna get both... Most likely :)

Go for it...

Recent production Partagas 8-9-8s are quite good, they almost remind me a little of the discontinued Partagas Lonsdale.

love them both but very different...a little like grown up kids. The lusi went to Uni/College and did Medicine ....all sophisticated, well rounded. On the side she enjoys opera. The 898 went to Uni/College and did law. Well rounded. On the side enjoys kickboxing.

Thanks everyone. I'm wondering which cigar best represents the son that went to uni got pissed every night, studied...hmm cant really recall...was clearly a rough diamond at best and on the side mostly skipped lectures to chase girls? peace.gif

I do enjoy the Lusi but would choose the 898. DC are a little too big for me most of the time. I also don't find the Lusi to have the strength of the 898. Yes the flavour is good, but it has always been a little too mild for me. When I reach for a Partagas I want a little bit of kick.
