pjansen Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Hey guys I am getting married Summer 2015 and looking for two boxes of cigars to get for my wedding. I am looking for one box of double coronas/churchills and then a box of corona extras or robustos. I love the Hoyo de Monterrey profile and am leaning towards HDM double coronas but I don't know how the quality of current production is? I am not to sure what to get for the other size. Any help and information is greatly appreciated. Regards, Patrick
earthson Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 How many beginners vs how many aficionados at the event? At my wedding, I actually bought some good factory seconds for my noob friends and brought a handful for those who would actually appreciate what they were smoking. 2
finecigar Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 There have been many posts regarding wedding cigars over the years that you can search for. I have a few boxes of HdM Churchills from the last couple years that are smoking outstanding! I think HdM is a good choice as I have found many non smokers to enjoy the flavor profile. If money is no concern then I would get a box of CoRos- and honestly Cohiba, Montecristo, and RyJ are the only cc marcas that non cigar smokers know of. Another thing to consider is the patience and appreciation your selected smoking guests will have.. And how much time there will be alloted to cigar smoking during the ceremony as well as the setting.
warren516 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 You might think about picking up something that comes in a tube. This way they will have a momento of the event. For the night before my wedding, I got all my smoking friends together and handed out R&J churchills in tubes. Granted we did have a couple of hours to smoke them.
Bartolomeo Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Boxes for your guests to smoke at the wedding or boxes for you to keep to remember your wedding day?
earthson Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 And that's another interesting issue - will people realistically have 2 hours + to lounge around and enjoy a DC/Churchill? Some tubed cigars aren't a bad idea. 1
pjansen Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Boxes for your guests to smoke at the wedding or boxes for you to keep to remember your wedding day? Boxes to give cigars only to my wedding party the night before and then the rest will be taken on honeymoon and kept to remember. Thanks guys for all the help. 1

Thanks guys for all the help. Punch Punch Tubos are smoking well right now IMHO and tubos in general will keep a while for the guys that dont smoke them that night Maybe buy a high end box to smoke once a year to celebrate the Anniversary? Buying boxes now to be smoked in Summer 2015 can be a crap shoot, lots of choices to choose from Congratulations!
Guyman1966 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 In addition, can I suggest that you buy two boxes to celebrate your first 50 years? Smoke one on your anniversary every year. When you exceed 50 years… at that point who cares! LOL
Troels Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 A good bunch to choose from - my choise would be hu sir Winston and hdm epi nr 2
Warren Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I seem to remember that Bill Clinton had a cigar for a romantic occasion but I don't know what it was sorry.
Misterblue Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Glad you clarified when you would be smoking them, my first thought was 'do you really want to sit and smoke a dc/ch on your wedding night?' Reg production sir Winnie's seem like a good 'memory' cigar...
PapaDisco Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I concur on the 2013 Punch Punch tubos, they are in fine shape right now. If you want to go bigger, but are concerned about newbies smoking a Churchill, the 2010-2011 R&J Churchills are surprisingly light side of medium and won't make a newbie turn green. The 2013's are a bit heavier and probably too much for an occasional cigar smoker. The Bolivar Gigantes have also been lighter than one would expect.
Maplepie Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 In this industry...... Just don't get a bridal veil and you will have enough to buy a full box of Partagas Gran Reservas!

markmurase Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 A good bunch to choose from - my choise would be hu sir Winston and hdm epi nr 2 I agree - both the Sir Winnies and HDM Epicure No 2 are mild enough that non-regular smokers would enjoy them yet both are great cigars that experienced cigar smokers would enjoy. The Sir Winnies are consistently good and the Epi 2's have been excellent recently, so you should be able to get a fine box of each. Congratulations and best wishes for your wedding.
Reevzy Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 My best mates sister (also a dear friend) got married a couple of weeks ago. As a gift to the gents after the ceremony, I put up a handfull of PSP quality Mag 46's. I knew that there would be a few casualties but surprisingly there was only one, the groom and the rest of us all in our suits posed for an awesome photo, Mag's in hand, it looked great and we all enjoyed the cigars and each others company immensely, turned out to be a great time. As a cigar buyer and smoker, you kinda feel like your taking one for the team when you supply the cigars to a bunch of non smokers. Sure it's a gift to some of your closest friends on a very special occasion and I'd do it again for them but it's a great feeling when it goes down almost without a hitch. A group of blokes in suits standing around smoking cigars is a really cool thing to be a part of. Congratulations on your engagement Thrasherman!
asmartbull Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Congrats on the engagement...Over the the last 1.5 yrs I have supplied cigars for 3 weddings. Since they are for the day before and honeymoon, and if money isn't a concern, I would look to COH Espy's and Sig IV's in tubes.....what ever is left will age wonderfully and is a great anniversary smoke.... sent while mobile....
