Is Trinidad the best brand?

Recommended Posts

Consistency and Cuban cigars should never be mentioned in the same sentence.

eeeeeeeeeh..... saying that they're always inconsistent is some sort of consistency in itself!

maybe it's the fact that they're so damn consistent and inconsistent that proves them to be truly and inherently: Inconsistent.

but seriously. i know some are pretty much close to being as consistent as possible. Buy a box a year for the rest of your life and they should all taste somewhat similar.. Epi 2s for instance or Cohiba <<i typed all that out and realised how bullshit it sounded after rereading.

Alright. you've won me over. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter now.

Trinidad is easily in my personal top 25 marcas.

IMO. The "best" brand is the one you enjoy the most.

I personally liked Robusto T and some Robusto Extra. But where's the differentiation and value prop for Behike 52 and 54? Behike, introduced in 2010; another exclusive, high-end line that is "only mad

The "best brand" is a very subjective decision. Do I enjoy certain brands over others? Yes. Do I prefer certain vitolas within a marca? definitely. All that said, taste is very personal and the "best brand" for you might not be so for others. I say smoke what you like and obviously for you the Trinidads are the most enjoyable. peace.gif

Always tough to determine 'best brand' as it comes down to personal preference and palate.

Of the marca itself, I do like the full line of Trinidads, with my personal preference to fundys.

I think the price point limits the potential of drawing a larger following, hence the perception of being 'under rated'. Lots of quality cigars available at more amicable price levels. Price point aside, I think they have a place in a humidor...

I always thought the saying was 'for all intensive purposes'. there you go hey

That is malapropism. The correct phrasing finds root in English law. The new one mentioned, I have no idea what that even means.

I love a Reyes but I like where the new Behike line is and what about Coros and 03' DC and sig 6 when they first come out and those Partagas D4's and Lusitania's and 898's...and the discontinued SDC line (bring em' back I say)...and what about those punch punch (remind me of being in Cuba all those years ago)...are they back? and the DC as well and of course SLR DC, what can you say...and boli royal coronas and I hear HDM Epi 2's are on and...and...enjoy the journey mate. peace.gif

Best at discontinuing vitolas maybe wink.png

LOL. I like that. Pricey, yes. High quality, yes. Best, who the F csn say that?

I think if they keep murdering the best vitolas, the marcs is in trouble. I still smoke the Reyes pretty frequently, though for price reasons, Ive broadened my range considerably, and now keep punch petit coronations, party shorts, SCdlH EPs, and RASCC in good supply for my minuto smokes.

I think killing the Robusto T, which to me was a front runner for best cigar in the world, was in the heights of stupidity. It was like a Behike light. Such a shame. I now hoard what i have left of them.

Ive go a box of coloniales on order, which i have higher hopes for. It seems the narrower RGs are getting too hard to come by. Such a shame.

Maybe Im getting old.

... had a Monte 4 today and was underwhelmed. Followed that up with a Trinidad Reyes, and enjoyed it IMMENSELY. Every time I have a Reyes I am impressed by the smooth and nutty/salty flavour. I have a box of Robusto Ts from 2010 that are also smoking great, probably the best robusto I have had to date.

Anyone else think that Trinidad cigars are underrated relative to the big CC brands?

I had a Reyes from around 05-06 that I smoked last year and man it was fantastic. I went out and bought a box that was production from last year and smoked one right away and it wasnt the same at all. I knew going in that it wasnt aged, but figured the flavor would be there. I didnt get disappointed over it, just figured get some age on them and enjoy later on.

I love Trinidads - I'm surprised at the lack of love on here!

The Reyes is my favourite short smoke - planning to pick up a box when I'm in Germany in June

I wouldn't say it was my favourite brand, but then I don't really have one :)

Btw. I'm a fan of the Robbie T.

Another Robusto T fan here. As I recall, it had quite a run of praise in 2009/2010 as one of the best 'fresh smoking' cigars to come out of Cuba in quite some time. Then the announcement of its discontinuation, and poof, it's a cigar hardly ever spoken of anymore. At least that I've seen.

Still have close to 2 boxes left and am happy for that. Will truly be a sad day when I'm out of them completely.

Trinidad is a great cigar without a doubt a better cigar than a Cohiba. Right now If I had to pick one cigar, hands down would be an epicure #2. To me its just cant be touched right now.

i'm curious. do you mean all trini's are better than all cohiba's? or are you talking specific lines?

but then i'd answer no to both questions.

i'm very much in the underwhelmed, overpriced brigade re trini's. long time since i purchased any. found that for every terrific one, i had to slog through half a dozen bog average, expensive cigars.

trini's are a very long way down my list (i actually thought that the topic line suggested someone was taking the piss - at the moment, i'd be as likely to buy monte opens as a trini. at least they are cheaper).

and a thought to rob. i can't remember doing any trini's for the vids, at least not for a very long time. is that because of your thoughts above? and please note, i'm certainly not pushing for us to do any.

Thank you! The Trinidad Fundadore video review is long overdue, IMHO.
